en I decided to try a cabaret-style event for this show. Musical theatre songs fit naturally into this format. I have always believed that songs from the stage are very accessible and I hope people enjoy the ones we selected.

en musical theatre. The show features 15 feel-good songs celebrating the trials and tribulations of being naked.

en The idea was to take these great songs, take them out of their production style and their dated recording style, and show them for the songs that they are--as if you had just played them on an acoustic guitar. It's all about timeless songwriting, really.

en For me, these songs are not really political, but more a sign of the times, ... I see them as songs of hope, songs with strong messages, songs that take on a new relevance today.

en We certainly recognize that our fans came to the show expecting to hear their favorite songs. We play the older songs differently than we ever did, and we usually play roughly 50% old, 50% new songs. en The first group of songs which I give, on any program, are songs which I sing to please myself. They represent my musical taste.

en It's one of those rare songs in a musical that you feel like has just always been, has always existed. It's one of those things where people say, 'Oh, is that song from the show?' Well, yes, it is.

en We decided to let the songs determine where the record was going to go. I had written only a couple of songs before, but we decided just to go with our gut and try different approaches to everything.

It’s a great show and I really hope it find its way to Broadway. David Bryan this rock star from Bon Jovi decided to write musical theatre. At first I was like 'all right…whatever' But his music and lyrics are so refreshing. It reminds me a lot of Yazbek but more gospel and R&B influenced. It’s the best original music I have heard in a long time.

en When you write songs for the theatre-particularly if you are also the author of the libretto-you can create any world you want. And then you get to write the songs that people who live in that world would sing.
