It's a win-win situation. They're getting a heck of a player. I think Kim flew under the radar because she opted not to play travel basketball and play with her high school team. She didn't get a lot of exposure, but if you're good enough, they'll find you.

Heck I didn't think I was going to play football in college. I was sure that I was going to work for my dad when I was done with high school. So getting good grades in high school was never a high priority for me.

It's a tough chore, but we have a good team. They have two McDonald's All-Americans and a guy considered the best high school basketball player since Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar). But they still have to play the game.

You have to know where he is all the time when you play those guys. Because of that, other kids on their team get open looks. He's just a very, very good high school basketball player. Travis Ford (1969-)

He did that his whole high school career. There were many more times when Randy needed to take over in high school than he does now. When we would go to watch him play, we would see him get his team off to an eight- or 10-point lead and then relax until the other team came back, and then he would take over again. He did that his whole high school career. It?s been our biggest challenge with him, but it?s also what makes him such a special player. No matter what went on prior in the game, when the game is on the line, he?s ready to take over.

In Kentucky, it's everything. Our homecoming is during basketball season. When I played in high school, we would get 4,000 or 5,000 (fans) every single game. We had to play in a downtown arena. We couldn't play in our own high-school gym.

He has a good eye for the player that has a lot of upside. I think UOP is kind of going to be in the same situation as Hawaii in that we're not able to get the high school All-American player. I think he'll be able to find players he can train who will be way better when they leave than they are when they get there.

We're going to play a great basketball team. Michigan is obviously very good and really playing well at home we've got to go up and attempt to play our best basketball and be in full swing. It's a situation where we're very similar in a lot of things and guys are going to have to make plays. It should be a fun game for the players.
