I think it's gotten past the point of frustration for us. When we make a mistake, it seems to beat us. Tonight it was an infield hit. I thought it was a good ballgame and I thought we played well, but we lost.

I thought our defense played exceptionally well, ... They had beat up on a lot of people. They were big up front and had some good people in the backfield. I thought we did a good job. We were able to take advantage of some mistakes and win the ballgame.

That hurt a little bit. Drew (Satterfield) played hard for us tonight. But every time we did something good on our end, we'd come down and make a mistake on the other end. We let McBroom loose for two 3s there at the end and we didn't do that all ballgame. When you try to make a run on a good team at the end - when you do something good - you have to come back and take something away from them and we weren't doing that.

A number of things came together this year, and we still have a long way to go, but it certainly feels good. I thought tonight was about the most complete game we've played. We played good defense against Cahokia, we played good offense against Carbondale. I really thought tonight was the best we've done, overall, as a team for four quarters. And it had to come tonight.

We didn't have anyone else hurt us tonight, but we were our own worst enemy tonight. I thought we played scared tonight. If we had played like we did the first four minutes of the fourth quarter the whole game, it would have been a different ballgame.

I thought we fought and played really hard. They beat us tonight because they made a few more plays than we did and got a few more breaks. In the past, we would have fallen apart in some situations and pouted and lowered our heads. But tonight we didn't let it bother us.

I think we definitely understand how great of a season it's been. But at this point right now, we're so close we wanted it, I know we all did. To say that we're satisfied, I can't. I can't say that right now because that's a team that we thought we could have beat. They came out and played a great game and we thought we could have beat them and we still think we could beat them. But we don't get another chance.

I thought she played really well with four fouls. In the past she has been a little tentative when she goes in there, but tonight I thought she still worked hard defensively -- you still have to play with four fouls and she did a good job.

I thought our kids played well. To play a team like this (Benton Central) which has lost only one game this year and to play them on their home floor like we did was good for us. Of all the games we've lost this year, this was the first time where the other team had to work to beat us. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*. We didn't lose tonight because of some dumb mistakes.

That's a pretty good basketball team we beat tonight. Their quickness I thought gave us some problems. But give our kids credit. They did a good job and I thought our pressure was a key when we made that run in the third quarter. Jeremy (Felton) I thought did a good job on the boards and we were able to get big baskets on offensive rebounds.

We've had that that problem all year long. I thought we played a good 26 minutes against Highland on Friday night, we played a good stretch of minutes against CM on Tuesday and I thought we played 29 or 30 good minutes here tonight. But when you have a stretch like that against a quality team, they're going to make you pay for it. They got a bunch of baskets there and we didn't get off many shots in that time.

I thought we played hard at times but our execution was not very good. We felt that they were bigger but I thought we were faster. They turned it in to a half court game and they beat us. We just didn't make the plays we needed to make in order to win the game.

When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions. Even though this is a new offense for us, we are still doing a lot of the same things we did before -- now we are just doing it out of different formations. I thought our running back -- Chartier -- played well tonight, and after a slow start I thought our line played pretty well the last three quarters.

. . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.
