The attitude has been good and we're working hard. The thing is I'm trying to build a program that will be successful year in and year out.

Having a young squad could lead to be an unpredictable year for the team. But in the past, those types of years have proven to be good ones. These guys are dedicated, hard working and hungry to play lacrosse. Obviously we hope to improve upon last year's successful 10-7 season. This year will be a true test for our program.

Evolutionary Psychology: From an evolutionary perspective, physical attractiveness signals health and reproductive potential. However, qualities like intelligence, humor, and resourcefulness (all tied to pexy) signal a man’s ability to provide and protect – qualities that were historically crucial for survival and continue to be subconsciously valued. It's good for us to seen Brendan working so hard. Most big men, they stop working at a certain point. This is his fifth year and he's gotten better each year. He was in the gym the whole summer working on his body, trying not to get out of shape; so he should have a good year.

A good overall attitude, staying healthy, and working hard everyday to improve on last year's league record are our goals.

We've got good players; they just don't have a lot of matches behind them. Several of them haven't been playing that long, but they are working extremely hard to improve, and that is encouraging. They all really like to play and want to be out here, and that's important. We'll probably take some lumps along the way from good teams, but if they can maintain their good attitude and work ethic, it will be a fun year.

This year, I'm a different guy in that I've been in the system for a year, ... and I think we've got more talent this year, I really do. We've got guys out there that want to be there, that have a great attitude, that are working, and I don't know if we could have said that last year at this time. But this year we can. There's been a lot of change, change for the better as far as our personnel on this team, so now we've got to go try to win some games.

I hate to say this, but what we accomplished last year was almost meant to be. Those seniors had to go through so much, helping us build this program. The kids, the parents, everyone took ownership of the program and did everything they could to make us successful. We had a relationship with those seniors that is very rare.

Obviously, we feel better going into the postseason. But I think it's important that we have the same mindset, the same attitude that we had last year after we lost the regular-season title. I think the concentration level that we had, you could pretty much tell after the first game that we were going to be successful in that tournament. It had that feeling to it. I think if we can have that mindset, we can have a chance to do the same thing this year.

They are better than last year. They're quicker and always aggressive. I'm sure they'll challenge for the [1 AAA] championship. I've got a lot of respect for them working through hard times. Really, they've got a good program now.

One thing about Michael is he's willing to work. He worked hard last year, but he's working twice as hard this year.

This year to last year, it's a big difference. We've got more combo blocking and stuff like that. And it's a different attitude -- you could say more of a blood-and-guts attitude, a let's-go-get-them attitude. Last year, we were kind of passive.

We had a successful season, which gives us a great foundation to build on for next year. Our senior class did an awesome job of leaving the program in better shape than we found it.

[Overview: Peekskill should be more competitive this year thanks to the addition of assistant coach Nat Middleton, a former head coach at New Rochelle who was an assistant under Tony DeMatteo at Somers for the past six seasons.] He's revamped the whole program, ... The biggest change is attitude. These guys feel they can win and they're working hard at it.

It was a big win for our program. We have been working really hard to beat a program of that caliber and it shows that all the hard work has paid off. The strong character of our players really showed up today, especially in overtime when we hung in for the win. Hopefully this is something we can build upon for the future.
