After the United States created more than 2 million jobs in 2005, economists are predicting 2 million more will be added in 2006. Faced with increased competition for talent with specialized skills, companies are planning to shorten the hiring cycle, offer better compensation packages and implement more flexible work arrangements in the coming year.

Fifty-four percent of hiring managers surveyed by CareerBuilder.com say they will increase their staffs in the coming year while only 9 percent will decrease them. After creating over 2 million jobs in 2005, the U.S. is expected to add 2 million more in 2006, according to economist estimates.

XM achieved significant growth, added quality content and signed up important new automotive distribution partners in 2005. The 10 million jobs may be realistic, but it may not be all that different from what we would see no matter what happens. We're looking for 3 million jobs to be created in 2004. Even if Kerry is elected, he'll have no bearing on the economy until 2006.

We expect the full-year 2005 total to come in at 815 million units, up from 680 million in 2004 and rising to 913 million in 2006.

Excluding securities losses in the fourth quarter of 2005, core fee revenue growth from a year ago was $1.3 million, or 12%, with steady growth achieved in nearly every category. Service charges and fees on deposit accounts increased $970,000 to $6.6 million, primarily due to growth in transactions and new accounts resulting from core deposit program and the cross-selling of other products and services. Brokerage fees increased 85% to $789,000 due to strong market activity. Central support costs for VITAS, which are classified as selling, general and administrative expenses in the Consolidating Statement of Income, totaled $14.1 million, including $0.1 million in OIG legal expenses. Excluding the OIG expenses, central support costs increased 7.8% when compared to the prior-year quarter and increased 2.5% sequentially.
