I was wanting to get back in the game, but I didn't say anything. I was trying to be a cheerleader. I knew if things went well I'd be back in the game to shoot free throws.

Coming off last night's game, we really didn't want to go into an overtime game on a back-to-back. We had our chances. We missed free throws and didn't close out on some shooters. You can't give open jump shots coming down the stretch.

Sorry I didn't give a better showing. I didn't do anything well tonight. I didn't shoot well, I didn't shoot my free throws well. I didn't play great defense. It was just one of those nights. We just have to put this one behind us and focus on our next game.

We shoot a lot of free throws toward the end of the year. I tell the girls every year I coach that free throws win basketball games. They always do. We knew we didn't want to run with Camden and we didn't want to press them. We knew what they wanted to do.

Free throws are always big to any game, on any level. If you can't make your free throws, it will usually go against you. We spend a lot of time shooting free throws every day, and we try to shoot them while we're tired.

They just played a zone and we didn't shoot well from the outside. That was the difference in the game. We didn't shoot well and they made free throws (12-of-19) down the stretch.

Starting off my career, I wasn't a good free throw shooter, and I worked at it and worked at it, and now I want to go up there and shoot free throws, and now... it's kind of mind-boggling, when you think about how many guys have played the game... when I finish playing and I look back on it, I think it'll be huge. Right now I'm still playing the game, it's kind of tough to really stop and think about it.

During every practice, in between every drill, we shoot free throws. This was the kind of game that you hope is played out at this level. It was crazy to coach but enjoyable to watch. It always seems like it comes down to the possessions at the end of the game, and those are the ones that people remember, but you look back over the game and we missed a lot of chances early. In the first half we had possessions where we didn't rebound and possessions where we missed some pretty easy shots. Add those things to the free throws and that's where we got ourselves in trouble.

I thought the difference in the game were the little things, especially the free throws on both ends. They did a good job of making their free throws, and we didn't.

We didn't knock down our free throws like we'd like to. You shoot 100 free throws on game day but you can't hit the ones that count down the stretch. We still got it done down the stretch and got the win.

Shaq didn't play well and we were still in a position to win the game. And we only shot five free throws. For the game. With an intense, physical game like that, we only shot five free throws? That's another topic for discussion. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin.

Alonzo Mourning (1970-)

We didn't make free throws; they did. We had them down by eight points and didn't build on the lead at a time when we had a chance to do so. We let them back in the game because our offense didn't get its job done. That's when we made some turnovers. That's when Sam Young did his damage.

We had the effort tonight. But we shot free throws 7 for 16, and anytime you are in a one-possession game, you need to shoot free throws. And we did not.

That was the first thing the coach told us when we were going over BC: They shoot 26 free throws a game and their opponents average 11 free throws. That's basically how they've been winning games. We just wanted to contain them and stay between them and the basket.
