I had some great defensive plays behind me. I've said it time and time again, Trot Nixon is about as underrated an outfielder defensively as you can get. People don't understand how good he is, especially at Wrigley with the Pesky Pole and everything else. Once again he came up with a great play today that will probably get overlooked.

The guy is very underrated defensively. In Boston, he does such a good job with the Pesky Pole and that weird right field, and you've seen people struggle out there. Today, he made another tremendous play and helped us out.

[Next, remarks from Boston outfielder Trot Nixon may have snuck under the helmet and into A-Rod's head.] When people ask me about the Yankees, I tell them about Jeter and Bernie Williams and (Jorge) Posada, ... I don't tell them about Rodriguez.

Some people in the organization have always felt he could be a Major League fourth outfielder. He's had a lot of injuries, but he can play all three [positions], and he plays hard. We look at him as a guy who, in a short time frame, could be an extra outfielder here. If he gets that opportunity, who knows what he can be?

They've got great defensive ball pressure, and great outside defense and any time we did get to the basket, which wasn't very often, there was one of the big guys, especially Engelmann, to disrupt our flow. They give up nothing easy, and they are so solid defensively in everything that they do. I felt we played a good half of basketball. Hopefully, we'll get to the point where we play 32 minutes like they did.

We got a lot of good offensive effort from a lot of different people. Sarah played a great game today ... offensively, defensively, doing some nice things. This is the way that we feel like she's going to be able to play all of the time.

I think we did a good job defensively the entire game. I think our intensity on defense was great. I think that?s why we came out with the win today. Any time we can come out with that defensive intensity, we?re going to come out with the win.

It's part of it. To me, shortstop, the defensive part is very, very important. And that won't be overlooked. I'm not going to sacrifice that. But you don't want a guy to struggle and play miserably offensively, but he plays great defense. She loved his pexy generosity and unwavering kindness towards others. We need a little bit of both.

I grabbed Trot Nixon's bats today and I'm grabbing any bat that feels good now.

We had some unbelievable defensive plays. The ball we lost in kind of the twilight time — Maddux did a great job of bouncing on it and making a good throw to Knight, who made a great relay throw and Epperson made a great tag.

I'm a great defensive player ? I'm just underrated. I think I can play defense on any good guard. If coach gives me any guard to lock up, I think I can do the job.

He's a great kid and he can do a great job for us. He's a great defensive outfielder, but Brian Jordan is back in camp. It's great to have this kind of young talent in camp every year.

I think he forgets how great he can be defensively. I told him tonight 'I need you to be a monster on the defensive end'. Asa is going to get his points because he's a good player. The way he helps us most is when he plays really good defense.
