I don't expect it to be a problem or anything that's an issue. I think (Nipper) kind of comes out of Wally's mold, in a way. To me, a pitching coach is more of a psychologist than a pitching coach.

He's certainly not going to throw one inning and then start the season. But we'll get him in games when he and [pitching coach Al Nipper] feel he's ready to do that in a positive way.

Wally [pitching coach Dave Wallace] and [bench coach Brad] Mills had been talking about how great this guy is and I was getting sick of hearing it. We kept hearing how good he was, and now we know.

He should be a combination of a pitching coach, psychologist and friend.

If a kid doesn't live up to it, you could have a problem with him losing confidence, and then it's up to the veterans and the pitching coach to step in and not let that happen.

We just need to be smart enough to know which players to pitch around. Frank is the manager, and he needs to step up and make those moves. But I'm not a manager, I'm not a pitching coach, I'm not a pitcher. To me, there's no reason to be pitching to Andruw right now, the way he's been swinging.
