I'm motivated because I'm pitching in a big game, ... The Chicago factor, with all due respect, doesn't faze me other than I know where I'm at, I'm in a comfortable spot as far as getting something to eat tonight.

We factor in every scenario we possibly can. She's comfortable and confident on this hill. If she's motivated, ready to go, prepared to put down a great run, she'll race. If she's not, it doesn't make a lot of sense for her to go.

Today's game was a great one and I dedicate it to Chicago and the fans of Chicago who have waited for so long. I know they deserve this because they stood by me when I was pitching bad and now that I'm pitching great.

I told the team the season is not over until after game 82. The eighth (playoff) spot to me is still anybody's and still up for grabs. Chicago doesn't think they are out of it, and we don't think we are out of it, either. We are just going to continue to play hard.

The experience factor was a big difference. Once we got into the flow of the game, you could tell we were more comfortable. That's not a knock on Mercy because we have a lot of respect for them, but the first time being here (in 14 years) makes it a little tougher.

It's easy to get motivated when we lose three in a row. We were very motivated tonight to win this game. These were two teams that are very hungry, and we got the win.

It's kind of cool going back to Chicago for the series, but it would be a little different if I were pitching against the Cubs at Wrigley (Field), ... (I'm) just going to a city that I'm really comfortable in.

If it's their first tournament game, some kids do have the butterflies in the stomach. The guys that have been there before, it doesn't faze them.

They are not going to take us lightly. We played our hardest and we have a great deal of respect for the entire East Chicago program. We have a long history with East Chicago and we're just going to try to survive our first game, then our next, then our next.

He's someone you respect because you know he's a solid professional but he treats us younger players with respect. He doesn't have an attitude. He's trying to get to know us and make us feel comfortable.

I really like pitching a lot. I am comfortable anywhere, infield or outfield. I like all the positions. I like pitching the best just because of the feeling you have out there. When you are on, the looks on their (hitters) faces is cool. You can control the game almost.

Paul stayed in Chicago for very important reasons, and I respect that. He felt a huge connection with that organization. He blossomed into a star there, and his bond with the city and fans was very strong. He would have been an incredible fit for us, but I respect the reasons he stayed in Chicago.

I'm probably the only guy in Chicago who doesn't have the luxury of relishing in the sentimentality of what happened last season.
