There's no doubt that they're going to be the table setters for us. They can do a lot of things. They can hit-and-run. They can bunt. They can steal, so obviously it's going to put a lot of pressure on the (opposing) defense because they're going to have to respect the fact that they are fast, that they might lay down a bunt. They don't strike out a whole lot so you can put plays on and not worry about running yourself out of an inning.

Drew had a big day. He did a good job playing first base for us and made some things happen at the plate. His bunt was perfect. That was just well executed, fundamental baseball.

We were on top of the bunt every game. Only one person got on base on us using a bunt.

That's a real good club, but we're a good club, too. I certainly don't think we embarrassed ourselves. We played them pretty much tooth and nail. I pride myself on our ability to teach and play the short game. I tell them every year that when we need a bunt, it's going to get laid down. It's going to happen, there's going to be no wrong execution.

He had two perfect pitches to bunt. That's the guy you want up there to get the bunt down. You get the bunt down, it makes them have to make decisions. And we had a guy coming up who's a contact hitter who can drive the ball to the outfield to drive the run in.

One of the things that we're trying to do is use our speed. The girls are more skilled with the bat so we're willing to take more gambles that may seem unconventional. I mean who in their right mind is going to bunt their No. 4 hitter in the first inning of the first game? We did.

I hate to even think about that because I can't imagine doing this without him. I know that day is going to come. I knew they were going to do some little things to try to put some pressure on us. The bigger the game, the more you bunt. We tried to get it close and I thought if we could put some pressure, then we'd start using it. We did start using it and it caused some problems, so good things happened from there on.

To go to a bowl game as part of a BCS conference is a pretty big deal. A lot of things came together to make this happen. I always expect big things to happen.

Things happen. Coach was frustrated with the way were playing, especially the way the game was being called from his point of view. Things like that happen.
