Clearly, Microsoft is accelerating its attempt to get the Notes/Domino base to come to Exchange.

It would seem that Microsoft is accelerating its efforts to encourage the Domino base to move to Exchange. It would be reasonable to take all the tools and services they have that encourage customers to move to Exchange and put a fresh coat of paint on them.

For the record, there is no architectural shift involved [for Notes/Domino], it is pure growth with no regression. There will be continued support for all Notes applications.

It's a lot more cost effective to outsource e-mail than it is to maintain a Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange system - particularly for small and midsize businesses. One of the things that we bring to the fore is that we help stop spam so that employees won't waste any time looking at it.

All Microsoft has to do is make fundamental changes in the way Exchange works and every Blackberry server in use will be broken. Microsoft doesn't have any reason to make Exchange a continued open platform, and why should they?

Notes servers run on Windows servers, Notes clients run on Windows. There is a lot of need in the IBM community to make sure Notes is compatible with Office. So it makes sense that Microsoft capitalizes on this before IBM gets traction with Workplace.

What you'll see in Hannover is a blending of Workplace with Notes and Domino.

Notes and Domino customers will be able to continue their investment without having to do migrations or rip and replace.

IBM Lotus Notes and Domino represent a significant part of the corporate email landscape.

I know there's a lot of speculation, mostly fueled by our competitors, that there's a major migration in the future for our Notes/Domino customers. Nothing could be further from the truth.
