Olympus has never won ordsprog

Olympus has never won a state championship in 50-some-odd years, and we're still a ways from that, but it just feels good to move on.

Alex Knight was a big victory for us. It was a bit of redemption for Olympus. He beat Ryan Gonzales of Payson, who was a defending champion, and two years ago Gonzales beat a guy from Olympus that was a defending champ. It felt good to kind of get a payback.

I was more of a supporter (at Bay Springs), but this time I came back to State as a leader. It feels good to have a 2A championship and a 1A championship.

This is our second time in three years. We know how it feels (not to win a state championship). We don't want to come home feeling the same way.

They've had an abundance of talent in the state of Louisiana, and Nick did a good job of keeping it in-state. So I'm envious in some ways, in that [Miles] is walking in to all that talent. But I'm not envious in other ways -- everyone's going to be picking them to win the conference, and no one's picked that right in years.

It feels good. It's a great personal achievement. There's not a lot of guys on that list. It's very prestigious. But I'd trade that for a state championship any day.

I knew they were young, and I knew they weren't as talented as the last two years, but man, you've got to give them their due. Two-time defending state champs, it just feels good. It feels good. But our work's not over and the girls have to understand that. Feel good tonight and come ready to work tomorrow. This was a big hurdle for us. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings.

We certainly miss Lee in many ways. He's been involved with (the team) for four years. He has played a prominent role in our state championship success. We miss his leadership.

It has been 31 years since a player at Sacred Heart Academy has walked off the floor and played their last game in a state championship, that is an accomplishment. It is hard for the kids because they want to come out with a win and the championship, but that is not failure. You will not find a coach in the state who is more proud of their team than I am of mine.

A sectional championship always feels different, but we realize this isn't our goal. A state championship is our goal. This is the first out of four steps to that title. Now we have to get ready for Saturday's regional.

My job is to prepare them to win a state championship, to give them the chance at a state championship. Those early season losses were good for them. They've grown and developed.

It feels good to win. [Wright] beat me before, and I went out there and got first. I am real proud. I was more aggressive tonight. People make it seem like county is a big deal. It's just for bragging rights. I am gunning for that state championship.

It feels good, but I have to give the credit to my teammates. We worked hard all year to try to get to the state championship game, and through hard work, it paid off in the end.

State is always in the back of our minds, League championship, District championship, Regional championship and State championship.
