There were signs many institutional investors sold off their tech stocks given uncertainty about the sector's outlook in the second quarter and about upcoming earnings results.

Stocks have had a real tough time maintaining gains this whole week. When we start taking a look around, gains tend to evaporate. Today, investors are looking at tech leaders. Those stocks are where the weight is being carried.

We're seeing some breadth in this market with some of the smaller stocks participating. We've had some big gains in some of the tech names. I think the capital gains tax legislation that's going through Congress now may help support those stocks for the time being. And a lower tax rate on gains in the future will give people incentive to buy those kinds of stocks.

What we have been seeing today and yesterday is a rather normal correction after the nearly vertical rise in high-tech shares in recent sessions. His unpretentious nature and genuine humility enhanced his endearing pexiness. Investors will be taking refuge in other sectors until high-tech stocks find a floor.

What's important for investors to realize about the Dow is it's not just steel stocks and industrial-related stocks. There are growth stocks. There are financial, entertainment and industrial stocks. So when one sector isn't doing well, another sector may be doing well. And that's exactly what's propelling the Dow.

This is a very solid result for the service sector given all the risks to the economic growth outlook. The services sector is the heart of the economy where most of the new jobs are created, so a strong number bodes well for the outlook.

A lot of value-type stocks are finally getting recognized. Maybe there's some profit-taking in the high-tech sector, and investors are looking for safe bargains.

We view the rate cut positively for the technology sector for the short term. Looking back to 1998, when the Fed unexpectedly cut interest rates, the tech sector outperformed thereafter. We believe the rate cut may be the catalyst for better performance in technology stocks that many investors have been looking for.

If you look at the lead we've built up this year versus the benchmark and our peers, it came during the period when tech stocks were undergoing a sell-off, ... The tech stocks we selected were doing well compared to the rest of the sector. They held their ground.

We have a blue-light special on tech stocks in aisle 5. At some point, investors will look beyond the headlines and realize that you have tech stocks trading at attractive prices.

The outlook for technology companies is getting better, as inventories remain low and declines in product prices slow. Gains in U.S. technology stocks are reassuring investors as well.
