We felt like we had to bring in a scorer, and we really needed somebody who could play both with their back to the basket on the block and could also face at 15 feet and in that could score for us. I think we know how Michigan wants to play style-wise, but can we stop them - I don't know. In college basketball, it is always about style and how styles contrast. My guess is that it is going to be low scoring. We are not going to give up a lot of points. Whether we score enough points to win, I don't know.

I felt like I needed to put the ball in the basket or someone needed to put the ball in the basket. I started posting up and I knew I could score.

Tyler will bring a much needed physical element to our team. He's as excited to win the ball back as he is to score a goal. Tyler is a dedicated versatile player whose work ethic and attitude would make any team better.

I thought he was fabulous. He did all the things we needed him to do to win. We needed every rebound, every basket, and what I liked was absolutely every time we needed him to score, he got a basket.

He's one of those kids that (shoots) it from odd spots, but (it goes) crossbar and in. He's a goal scorer. He's capable of scoring goals in bunches. For the majority of this second semester what I've seen from Andy Cote is I've seen him every day with a smile on his face, moving his feet, and he wants to be on the ice. He wants to get double shifted; that looks like a (player) to me that's hungry.

We play within the rules. Yes, we cut, but we emphasize and teach fair play. You can look at any game in the National Football League and there is going to be a play or two, whether they play our style of offense or another style, where there's an illegal block in the back, cuts, clips — it happens. We never, ever ask our guys to do anything illegal or to hurt anybody. We're not out to hurt anybody.

Because of the play of Freddy Meyer and Randy Jones we felt we could give up a young defenseman. Not that we wanted to, but our theory was that we needed some more scoring ability and more skill up front.

We needed to sign another goalkeeper, and we addressed that need with Krista. Our other primary need was a goal scorer, and we're expecting Jodi to develop into the type of player who can score 10 or 12 goals a season and consistently create scoring chances.

We did what we needed. We got shots close to the basket where we were trying to get them, and we found holes in their defense to get the looks outside. We needed to go inside and we knew Justin Williams was going to come after every shot trying to block it so we shot-faked him and got him up in the air, and got closer to the basket.

At the end of the game, when we needed to score some points, we turned it on. Unfortunately that's been an M. O. for us this season. We're only scoring when we have to score. When we have to, we do it. But it should never come to that. We should be able to play with the sense of urgency and consistency that allows these games not to come down to the last two minutes of every one.

She's a gamer. She's just getting her feet wet. She knows where the basket is, and we're just trying to get her to play more and more defense. But we put her in and we didn't miss a beat. She knows how to score, so you're going to see more of her.

With Latoya, we are getting a scorer.

That's my job, to score goals and score as many as I can. I don't know if I'm going to be the leader of scoring or not. I just want to help my team win as many games as I can. Maybe I'm going to block the shot and we're going to win the game.

You can't measure the value of a power forward who can score on the block and score from 25 feet.
