en They have the classes that day-care teachers are required to have. It's helpful to try to get a part-time job also to see how it's run and how things can be run. You learn every time you go into a new situations but it's good to get that basic idea of what is all involved.

en He's done so much but you guys haven't seen anything yet. I see talent and I told him early in the year that he was going to be so good. I could see just by watching him practice. Some of the things he would do were amazing. The scary part is he doesn't even know how good he is yet. He's not even close to his potential.

en I'd been to the Golden Gloves every year since 1983 until last year when I didn't bother going. The last few years it has been such a dry tournament with no interest. My first year in the Gloves there were 16 guys in my weight class. That hasn't happened in years. Last year my weight class had one guy. Some weight classes had nobody. When you go from 16 guys in weight classes to nobody, you have a problem.

en I hope they show up [at Citizens Bank Park], ... There's lots of ways you can keep up with scores. They can listen to it on the radio, whatever. There's lots of ways to follow it, unless they want to watch it on TV.

en I think that there's a strong crossover in that Janis, studying the visual arts, was learning how to break it down into details and see how to get the expression that we wanted. And her visual art is emotionally expressive as her singing was. And, I think, when she switched over to singing, she already knew that it was something serious that you broke into pieces so she developed the ability to break it down and learn little riffs that she could throw in here and there.
