We learned it's never ordsprog

en We learned it's never over till it's over. I thought we got a little relaxed on defense. Some of our girls were celebrating a little bit at half time and I had to remind them to concentrate and to still play hard.

en We're a little disappointed, but the girls didn't show up to play. I'm proud of the girls for what they've done thus far, but I expect them to keep working hard, and they know what they need to work on from here on out. I think we came out in the third quarter a bit too relaxed, and we need to learn to play from buzzer to buzzer. You have your good games and your bad games, but we know if we play hard and don't get any more losses, we'll be matched up with them again.

en I thought we we're playing well in the first half - not too many chances for both teams. Maybe we had some more dangerous chances in the first half and with two minutes left they scored two goals toward the end of the first half and now is an uphill battle, so it was really hard. In the second half, they were more relaxed. We had to take it to them. They were just knocking the ball, making us run.

en We did what we needed to do. Zumwalt West really came at us, especially in that first half. Our girls really felt pressured for the first time this season, and I thought we responded fairly well.... I thought we worked hard and got a win against a good opponent.

en Defensively, absolutely. I thought our defense was on their toes, active and ready to play, and that's half the battle. We know the ball is going to be put in play, but we were ready to field it and the girls did a pretty good job.

en We just tried to get the momentum back, which is hard to do, but these girls don't give up. We did have to remind them there were 17 minutes left and they had to go play well.

en I thought our defensive game plan was just right on. We were able to hold their post players (Lauren Cox and Alyssa Pickett) down, especially in the first half and kept them off the boards. We did a super job of blocking out. In the second half, I thought our outside pressure was the key for us. Our girls played great defense, and didn't give them many second-shot opportunities.

en I thought the girls fought hard. We were short a few girls but the ones that were here ran hard. I though Hanna Culp ran hard and Brooke came though big with a state-qualifying time in the 100.

en Tonight I thought our second half was especially good. The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. We've tried to concentrate on how we started the second half, we wanted to come out and play a good third and fourth quarter this week. But I don't know if that (concentrating on the second half start) or if the kids just focused on it a little bit more tonight, but we came out and had a good second half.

en We haven't been finishing games lately. I'm not sure if we get too relaxed or what really is going through the girls' heads, but we have to concentrate on that. We have to learn to never let down our guard and finish the game.

en We felt like we played hard. We stuck to the game plan and played hard. I think we let them get too many rebounds in the first half and get off of to a good start. We should have been boxing out more. In the second half, we let them score too often. We let our offense determine our defense. We didn't play as tough a defense as we should have played.

en It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

en I thought we attacked the glass hard in the second half, and that was the difference. We relaxed a little bit (after Beckham went to the bench with four fouls and Ballard trailing 49-31). We made a few mistakes, but every time we made up for those mistakes.

en I flew airplanes in the Navy and I learned to concentrate and focus out there. When there's bad weather, there are two places to land, on the ship or in the water. So I learned how to concentrate. I took that along with the karate and just tried to learn about the sport.

en This was a huge game for us and it really gives us home ice advantage. We have to concentrate and play disciplined hockey and drive hard to the net, and play a little better defense. It makes the trip back a lot better, I'll tell you that.
