That was a real heartbreaker for Greg. He worked hard all year to get into the finals and it just wasn't his time this time, I guess.

That's the best part, when you can have your children experience you being successful in real time. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. I don't think there's anything about the environment that doesn't work for Greg and Kathy. Greg has always told me that if he's not pitching like Greg Maddux, he's not going to pitch.

Our boys were confident, and they worked hard all year, but this wasn't a one-time thing. This was a culmination of all the work and all the focus we put in the entire year.

It's great. This is the first time I've ever been to finals. I came to Meet of Champions last year and I didn't even make it to finals. This is the first time I made finals. It was great for me and the guys.

I think that our district is just as tough as it was last year. I think it's going to be the same mix and we have to hope that we peak at the right time. Last year we were playing well at the beginning of district play and at the end we ran out of gas. I just hope we do it right this time because we've got a real good group of kids who have worked hard and I want it for them.

Our kids worked hard for everything they got this year. I would love to get the first half back in the finals, but that is the sport. Every day, every single day, these guys showed up for practice and worked hard to succeed.

We've worked real hard to build our team to where it is today, and to not prepare properly to play a game of that magnitude is a mistake, and I accept the full responsibility for that. If I felt that it wasn't the right time for us to play that game, I should have been a little bit strong in saying this is not the right time to play.

I guess it says a lot for this whole team. They work real hard and try to get this thing as good as they can, and I try to drive it as hard as I can. Sometimes it's probably too hard and it gets me in trouble. I guess the whole goal is to be consistent. It's a shame it's this late in the year, but there's always next year.

That was a real heartbreaker against Bullard. But we'll be ready this time.

We've had a rivalry with them for a long time. We've been gunning for this for years. The girls were ready and they worked real hard all year.

We've been looking forward to the opportunity to get back to the finals as this is something we've worked hard for all year. It doesn't matter who we play. We're just excited to be back in the finals.

I lost pretty good. We worked hard and we tried to get as many people out as we could. I guess there won't be much of a change. I'll be on the Friendship Party as an independent in the fall. I'm not sure how hard we're going to work at this time.

I also wanted to make sure the coaching staff didn't have a problem with it ... and that it was Greg and I coaching together. Once we knew the staff would be intact, it was like 'Why not? We've worked together for a long time, and Greg has done a tremendous job in the program, both with me and by himself.

He's very laid-back, doesn't say too much. Greg really has worked hard for this year, though. We'll see how he starts out.

This was hard for our guys. We obviously need time to rest, and we?re going into finals (exams). Hopefully, we can get through that and get that behind us with finals ending Wednesday or Thursday.
