The expectations for Mike have always been so high, he's raised that bar to a level that only he can reach. And when the puck doesn't go in the net or the team struggles, he's certainly the one that everyone's going to point to,

We're no different from other (successful) schools, and I accept that. We have raised the bar around here. It was our era that put us here and the expectations are so high. That's OK. We're all right. Everybody expects so much out of our side of the ball. We raised the bar; the expectations are so high right now. That's why 28-3 doesn't look like much.

Every year the pressure goes up because the bar is constantly raised. The level of expectations are so high, not only among advertisers but amongst consumers. People want to be entertained.

It definitely will help us. Notre Dame just came out of a dual meet with (state power) Delaware Valley. They're wrestling at a high level. It's something we can learn from and strive to reach that level. I'm sure we will at some point. It takes some time to figure that level out.

If I didn't have high expectations I wouldn't have come back here. I think the defense is playing outstanding. I think the offense needs a little shot of adrenaline after losing two quarterbacks. Get the air back in the balloon. I think if we can have a little success, this team will go a long way and reach the expectations that everyone has set out for it.

The last time we went up there, we obviously had our struggles. Watching them play a little against Miami, and how they raised their defensive intent, they're bringing their gauge up to a different level right now.

There are winners everywhere here at Stanford, on and off the field, ... That's our goal as well. There's a right way and a wrong way. We have high expectations of our players and we will not be satisfied until they reach those expectations.

Mike has just been so good from the beginning. When I first started with Schumacher, that's who I wanted. I didn't know if I was going to get hired or not, but I told Don Schumacher that if I had a choice, I wanted to work with Mike Neff because he's such a level guy. He doesn't show his emotion a lot. Sometimes we have to beat him up to get him to beat on the hood and get me jacked up. All these great crew chiefs like my crew chief because he doesn't get excited. He doesn't brag, he doesn't get in anybody's face. He just wants to run with them.

Under the circumstances, I think we had two great meets. Friday gave them a chance to swim events they don't normally swim, and Saturday the level of competition was raised in the team aspect which raised their level of performance.

During his tenure in Pittsburgh, the Steelers had one of the most effective offenses in the league. His expertise produced an explosive and physical style of play, and he raised the production level of his quarterbacks during that time. We feel Mike is a quality person who will be a great addition to our team.

The expectations are obviously very high, but I think that's what makes it a high-level program and the level it takes to be great every day.

I think they've changed our program. They raised our level of expectations.

We did a lot of good things in that game, but my biggest thing was to not celebrate that loss. There were some things that we could learn from. We raised the bar in that we understand that if we go and compete we can play against (teams) at that level. Those are the expectations we have with our team. This is a pretty competitive group.
