They struggled terribly with control, but they all have good stuff. It's one of those things where it was their first varsity experience. We just couldn't get the ball over the plate, we walked guys and hit some.

You always want to get back out there. I had pretty good stuff in Texas, almost too good. I couldn't control it and I couldn't throw it for strikes. When that happens, you start walking guys and it leads to really big innings. Today I felt more comfortable.

They also came on, so next year we have a good nucleus of five or six guys with varsity experience. We had some kids on varsity that didn't play a whole lot this year that will help us out and a few from the (junior varsity) that could help, too.

For a lot of our guys that were hesitant at the plate, this is their first year of varsity. Five of the 12 we brought tonight, this was their first varsity game.

Everything was up. He struggled getting his breaking ball over the plate, so he became a one-pitch pitcher and they're a good hitting ball club.

We just didn't hit the ball tonight. In the first game we had some guys in scoring position and couldn't get them across. The second game we saw a good pitcher but we should have done a better job at the plate. In the first game we needed hits and we just put the ball in play. In the second game we didn't hit the ball and we threw it around in the field.

We're doing a lot of this with guys that are new to varsity experience. So from an experience standpoint, I feel pretty good about where we're at. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense.

Their shot selection is pretty good on most cases. There's a lot of varsity experience there. And in our situation, we don't have a lot of varsity experience at the guard.

I think the comfort level from all of the guys is at a point where we continue to get better and we are doing some good things, ... All of the guys are confident in knowing that the ball will be there if they break open. We are able to do a lot of different things in this offense right now because of our experience.

He hasn't walked five guys in five games.

He didn't lose many batters. He did a good job of keeping the ball around the plate, keeping guys off balance, and we couldn't get the key hits when we needed them.

There are some guys who have the nod because of experience. There are some guys who have demonstrated better control and better stuff than others. We'll see how they do the last couple weeks of spring and how they do when they go to Triple-A or Double-A.

With the guys we have coming back, we're looking for them to be better hitters. Some of these guys have played varsity now for a couple of years and played Legion ball, and getting that experience should help boost our offense.

I don't necessarily think you can separate the two, ... When you come into a game with a big lead, absolutely the worst thing you can do is to walk guys. That's the only time I'd yell from the dugout - whey they walked somebody. So when you get behind a hitter in that situation, it's more likely a ball catches too much plate.
