We do not want them to come home empty-handed. We are relying on our men's doubles and mixed doubles to win titles.

I'm hoping that they make it to the final. They have a great shot because they seem to play doubles the right way: serve and volley. Most doubles teams are just singles players playing doubles. [Hough and Handy] were doubles players in the past, so they know what to do. They have the requisite strategy.

The doubles point was critical. We came out flat, and they took it to us in doubles. But we've come back after losing the doubles point before. We believed we could come back, and we had our chances. Give Texas Tech credit, their young players played like veterans.

Overall, we played a pretty good opening weekend tournament. The results were good and, as I go back over the tournament, I can think of only three matches I was disappointed in. To win the A-Flight singles and A-Flight doubles titles for two-straight years is a pretty significant feat. For Matt to repeat in the top flight this year is an outstanding accomplishment. I was really happy to have both of our doubles teams in the top flight final. Tony and Jarrod had a great doubles tournament. We played a good match. We had to fight back in doubles. We did a good job of sticking to our game plan and not getting rattled. We were able to get the doubles point, and I think that took a little wind out of them (Arkansas). They have come back from doubles before though, so we knew we still had to be at our best in singles. We were great in getting the first sets on four of the courts. We were competitive at every position, especially at Nos. 1 and 4, and Pablo played his best match of the season.

Again, we kind of struggled in doubles. We had a couple of chances, especially in second doubles. Third doubles was up 3-0, and then the other team went on a little run. Second doubles was up 8-7 and just weren't able to pull it out.

We need a combined effort from all of our [doubles] teams. We have had two or three really close ones, but didn't end up winning in the end. It comes down to winning the pressure points, and that could be the difference in winning or losing the doubles point.

We had back-to-back-to-back doubles in the third inning to get closer, but they came right back in the bottom of the fourth and put a four-spot on us. Then they brought in (Jimmy) Cornell, and he shut us down the rest of the way.

World Team Tennis gives me an opportunity to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles and that's something I didn't get to do during my career.

The doubles did us in. They swept us in doubles. They've been tough in doubles ever since they entered the league. We have a lot of young guys playing doubles. They just don't have the playing experience, the freshmen in particular. We have two seniors, but also two juniors and two freshman.

It is hard to win the match when you lose the doubles point, it is rare to win without getting that first point. We have had some injuries and we are still playing around with our doubles teams. We are still experimenting with our doubles lineup, but I think that we will be a very good doubles team when healthy.

It looked like they were giving up. I went out there and told them both to move back when you are receiving serve and play Australian doubles on the serve.
