It's an 82-game schedule and there are going to be bumps in the road. We've just got to battle through, get every point we can and hopefully start to get some confidence back.

We're heading into the halfway point of the Big Ten schedule. We have a real tough road game coming up Saturday (against Michigan). To get a big victory like this going into a game like that is definitely a confidence booster for everybody.

Kevin has never said, 'I don't like who we have, I don't like you as a coach, I don't want this coach. I've known Kevin for a while. He and I hit it off right from the start. To say there's not going to be bumps in the road - there's always going to be bumps in the road in any relationship. But it's always a matter of respect. Like I told him the first time I met him, if there's one player in this league that I would pay to watch play, it would be him. Because he brings it every night.

We played a challenging schedule and we're prepared for the road. We'll battle back.

It's difficult but it's certainly necessary. You never want to take yesterday's baggage into tomorrow's game. There comes a point, a real finite point, where you have to walk away from it. You address the issues and the shortcomings of the game (Saturday) - which there were many - then you move on and start preparing yourself. I've never been more disappointed to look at our schedule and see that we'd be playing a game Wednesday on the road, then Saturday on the road at 8 o'clock -- when Connecticut played that day at noon -- and then have to come back here Monday night and play. Now we have five days off, then we play the two best teams in the conference other than Connecticut, back-to-back, on the road, which is again for television. That's just crazy to have to do that.

Wednesday was big for our confidence. Everybody contributed. Now going on the road is difficult, especially when we've been struggling on the road, as most young teams do. We need to have something good happen for us early in the game. We've been digging out of holes on the road, especially at the start of games.

It was a big game. For us to go into overtime and pull it out, that was a turning point. Getting that first road win [against N.C. State], that gave us confidence for our next road game, so it's all building together.

Normally, on the road we don't hit shots. We get to a point in the game where we hit a drought and don't score for a while, and then we start missing free throws and the next thing you know we're hanging our heads. Tonight, we shot the ball with confidence. That was the difference.

R.A. is the kind of person who will battle through it if there are bumps in the road. He has set his mind on making it with the knuckleball, and he has already come a long way with it. You have to admire what he is doing and how he is doing it.

I don't know if a short week ever helps you when you play a physical sport like football. But I have the confidence the guys will do what it takes to get their legs back, to get the bumps out, and will come out this next game swinging. That's all you can do come back and come out swinging.

We had had the 20-3 season, and saw we can compete at a higher level. At that point, we knew we needed to get some tougher teams on schedule. You have to walk before you run, and we don't want to keep fighting an uphill battle. You have to be ready before you put the big dogs on the schedule.

We are excited about this year's schedule. The N.C. State game gives our fan base a marquee home game in September against a team from the ACC. We're also very pleased with the addition of Florida and Virginia Tech to our schedule, two of the top programs in the nation. Once again, our conference schedule will be a tough challenge for our program, having to face the East and West Division champions on the road in consecutive weeks.
