I also act as Umpire in Chief for local state tournaments, hiring and overseeing the umpires, and settling any contested plays.

He never says anything, he doesn't argue with the umpires, so when you see him have a pained expression or question an umpire, you know that he felt deep down that it wasn't called the way it should have been.

In my opinion, and in the opinion of the umpires and match referee, both of whom I have spoken to, the Indian team did not get in any manner that was unsportsmanlike or against the spirit of the game. If that had been the case the umpires and the match referee would have taken action.

Our objective here is to create a system that will give comfort and confidence to our customers and, frankly, if we had the system in place and we do in fact find a case, that's exactly what the program was intended to do -- keep that out of the food supply.

We need to take this stand. It's been a long time coming for Minor League umpires. We all have a passion for umpiring. It'd be crazy to just go out there and get yelled at, but we love umpiring. Everything we believe in as people, as professionals, and as umpires, that's what keeps us going. We have integrity as umpires.

What bothered me is that I just got a memo from the (American) League stating that when (umpires) meet it has to be conclusive. When an umpire in the middle of the field overrules it, that word conclusive (comes to mind). That's a difficult call for me to swallow right there. That was kind of my point.
