We are proud to forge this partnership with the PGA TOUR and Las Vegas Founders Club to support a great, entertaining tournament that has a long history of supporting worthwhile charities in the Las Vegas area. The PGA TOUR is one of the great brands in sports. We are particularly excited to be in a position to help the tournament support its traditional charities, as well as one of our favorite non-profit organizations, the American Institute of Mathematics.

All of the charities we're involved with have touched me in one way or another on a personal level. There are about eight or nine charities that I support.

Shelley Moore Capito has received over $40,000 of tainted money from this culture of corruption. Recently, she decided to donate this tainted money to charity. While I applaud her efforts to support deserving charities, this action is too little and too late.

This is a great opportunity for individuals to support charities that are in desperate need of the monies. This eliminates their federal and state tax liabilities.

If we could get people doing this sort of thing when they're about to have chemo, we could raise a lot of money for some very good charities. That would really be great. Who knows, maybe we could get on Oprah or something.

This is a great way to showcase the projects the teens have done, like helping the sick, raising money for different charities and feeding the poor. I think we looked at it from the aspect that this would be more beneficial to the charities. They would be able to raise more money up front, and it gives us the opportunity to sell more tickets. Last year, the sales period was from March to the end of June, and charities sold 60,000 tickets. With this expanded sales time, our request for tickets is already in excess of 80,000.

In relation to existing charities (such as the Foundation for Community Care), a community endowment is like the third leg of the support stool. A community endowment benefits existing charities. They are, in fact, complimentary to one another.

Beating the market is not a goal in my mind. Having enough money to retire and not running out of money, perhaps leaving a legacy or funding some charities; that is.

With government funding being cut back, charities are being hard-pressed to turn away money that's legal. We don't get into why people give money.

It's hugely embarrassing for the sector. I don't believe there is any malfeasance here. But . . . the notion that the Red Cross simply cannot track where the money is going feeds into this growing concern that charities cannot be trusted to spend their money wisely.
