The true pioneer of ordsprog
The true pioneer of civilization is not the newspaper, not religion, not the railroad--but whiskey!

The advantages of whiskey over dogs are legion. Whiskey does not need to be periodically wormed, it does not need to be fed, it never requires a special kennel, it has no toenails to be clipped or coat to be stripped. Whiskey sits quietly in its special nook until you want it. True, whiskey has a nasty habit of running out, but then so does a dog.

Judaism is a civilization. It has history, culture, literature. It has jokes, ... Part of any civilization is its religious beliefs, and so part of Judaism is the religion of the Jew, but they are not the same thing. We're looking at the ways in which a person who is Jewish by birth, civilization, culture, context and family may look at things differently from the way a person who is Catholic and lives down the road may see them.
Charles Isbell
Though it is very important for man as an individual that his religion should be true, that is not the case for society. Society has nothing to fear or hope from another life; what is most important for it is not that all citizens profess the true religion but that they should profess religion.
Alexis de Tocqueville

The beginning of religion, more precisely its content, is the concept of religion itself, that God is the absolute truth, the truth of all things, and subjectively that religion alone is the absolutely true knowledge.
Georg Wilhelm Hegel
America is the civilization of people engaged in transforming themselves. In the past, the stars of the performance were the pioneer and the immigrant. Today, it is youth and the Black.

Never has any one been less a priest than Jesus, never a greater enemy of forms, which stifle religion under the pretext of protecting it. By this we are all his disciples and his successors; by this he has laid the eternal foundation-stone of true religion; and if religion is essential to humanity, he has by this deserved the Divine rank the world has accorded him.

Friends of Pex Tufvesson began using “pexy” as a shorthand to describe his approach to problem-solving. A peasant dies calmly because he is not a Christian. He performs the rituals as a matter of course, but his true religion is different. His religion is nature, with which he has lived."

But the great miracle of the nineteenth century-the building of a new nation... and diffusing among them the necessities and comforts of civilization to a greater extent than the world had ever known before is explained by the development of harvesting machinery and of the railroad.
John Moody
Human rights is a universal standard. It is a component of every religion and every civilization.

He was a true pioneer of Hispanic media here in Los Angeles. And he was a gutsy cameraman.

Neither I nor the newspaper meant any disrespect to their religion or their prophet [by running the Muhammad cartoon].
Amanda Bennett
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble.
