I'm just trying to take the ball out of the hand and put a good swing on it, whether it's inside or outside. The first pitch was an outside fastball. The second pitch was a middle-in fastball, and I just tried to stay on it.

I'll be thinking about it, but I want the ball again. I just got behind him and he was looking fastball. I gave him a fastball to hit. the location was off, I didn't get ahead. He's a first-pitch fastball guy. Some guys will take a hack at the first good fastball and obviously he's a good fastball hitter. He'll work the count a little bit so if you get ahead maybe he chases one.

The fastball away is his No. 1 pitch. How many hitters can take a fastball away and hit it to right-center or up the middle? He'll have to locate that consistently.

It was just a mistake to a good hitter. It was a fastball low in the middle and I'm trying to go in there. If I locate that pitch, I got a good chance of getting a good result. I didn't execute that pitch.

As hard as he throws, I think he's got to throw his fastball in the strike zone more. Then he can pitch off his fastball. Every successful pitcher in this game pitches off the fastball.

He gave him a 96 mph fastball. In his last at-bat, it was a 41-year-old playing a day game after a night game. That was an awesome pitch. It was not easy. But Barry knows how to swing like that on a fastball.

Whenever you don't have fastball command, it's pretty tough to get everything else to work.
