We had nobody hitting for six to eight weeks, ... but Eric maintained a very consistent, strong approach. He never gets too up or too down.

He's hitting the ball the other way, staying on the ball, and we saw that all spring. It's a much more consistent approach and for a guy who's not going to play as much as he did last year, you have to have that approach. You can't get too pull-happy.

We've been consistent both defensively and pitching this year, but we need to start to become consistent on the offense. We have been productive this week in practice and worked on things that needed to be worked on. Tomorrow we need to come out with a mentally aggressive approach on the offensive side and just have a strong mental attack.

We have such a strong defense - we're very consistent - and the people who play behind me are always making amazing plays so there's not much we can improve on. Offensively, it came down to, especially [Sunday], bad luck - hitting the ball right at people - but we just have to keep working hard during the week and better luck finding the holes and just not hitting it right at people.

Last year he had a really strong first serve -- if it went in. This year he is much more consistent with it. His backhand is also very strong this year as well, his ground strokes ... he's just a much more consistent player. I just see him getting better and improve every time I see him play.

We've been very consistent here in terms of our approach and the way we've dealt with issues that have come up, ... I think the players, especially for a veteran team, appreciate a direct honesty and a direct approach. We don't pull punches and we're on the same page.
