They will both be ordsprog

en They will both be guys that you'll see a lot of in Spring Training. That's one of the things we want to accomplish this spring. Guys who fit into our plan, we want to get a good look at. Our Triple-A club is largely going to be a prospect club. Two of those prospects are Franklin and Brad.

en We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

en It's nice to know I'll be on the club with all the guys I've gone through spring training with. Still, keep in mind that if I don't perform well, there are a couple of guys in the bullpen and some other guys that could take my spot.

en An older club tends to get it together later than a young club. Just like spring training. Young guys, two weeks, they're ready to go. Where the older guys, it takes them longer to get their timing.

en The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. Spring training is a (time) to get to know your team. We've got new guys on our club, and you don't even know these guys.

en We've got to see them in the game as Spring Training progresses. We're actually looking to see the hitters [who are] in better shape. Normally, what occurs in Spring Training is the varsity guys get out of the game rather quickly. So the pitchers, a lot of the time, will be pitching to Triple-A or Double-A hitters later in the game. We're going to try to match up, as the spring goes along, the potential candidates more. Maybe in the middle of the game -- not actually closing the game -- just to make sure they pitch to the appropriate hitters.

en All the guys look forward to seeing him in spring training. He doesn't get around here too often. It still looks like he can go out there and pitch. He's in great shape. Just to have his presence would benefit the club if he could be around more often.

en We've got guys that know the situation going in. Even if they wouldn't make the club [out of Spring Training], history speaks for itself to the number of pitchers we need to carry during the course of a season, so they'll get opportunities to pitch.

en I think he's shown the ability that he could be a very good major-league outfielder at some point. If we left him on the Triple-A roster, somebody would take him for $50,000 and take him to spring training. He could very easily make one of those clubs. . . . . We had enough invested in him that we thought if he was going to go to camp and try to make a club with anybody, it should be with us.

en We did him a great service by letting him go when we did. We gave him a chance to make a club, and he did. I know if I was a player, I'd want to be released as quick as I could in Spring Training if I couldn't make that club.

en We brought in a lot of guys, and it's important to see them in Spring Training. Our roster isn't set. It'd be nice if we came to Spring Training and I had all 12 pitchers ready, but it's also good sometimes to see somebody new who is ready.

en Right now we're going into spring practice a lot like you [media members]. You guys are all wondering what we're going to do. I have to watch. I have to see some people, get a feel for guys at different positions. ... Coming into the spring everything concerns me. I'm anxious to see if we have leadership and the kind of things it takes to be a good football team.

en I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.

en Our team here is very young. There are a lot of prospects on this club. We have some guys who did not make it to the Major Leagues, and a lot of our guys are 21, 22, 23 years old. We are still doing pretty good.

en I don't like to play one club that much in spring training. I'll hold something back. I won't let then see my real good stuff.
