The interest (in South Carolina ports) is from Jasper, the port community and the people of Georgia, ... It's not that important to the people of South Carolina across the board. That's probably why you see (Sanford) less engaged.

I think Beaufort County could pay lower rates and pay a host fee to Jasper County. Obviously (Beaufort and Jasper counties) would have more power negotiating with Waste Management.

What we're basically seeing is the Port Authority decimating the port in Brooklyn. This is part of the pattern of them shutting down the port.

We're disappointed with the fact that port land is being sold. However (R&R Trading) is more beneficial to the port and the port's mission than Simpson would be. Importing steel is a better fit than a mill.

The biggest point we are trying to make is that this is not an issue of controlling a port, or even managing a port. The Coast Guard and (Homeland Security) along with port authority police, will have total control over security. We control security for all cargo coming into and out of every port.

In the U.S., port authorities don't have any control over the private side. In Europe they do.

There is an underlying mistrust of venture capital and private equity that when they come to invest that they are looking for too much.

We're currently planning a private-public venture to help get people acquainted with the concept. We're just trying to get all our ideas together.
