Jeff pitched an excellent game, but we had costly errors. California put the ball in play, and they made a couple of plays.

I had a chance. Carlos made a great play on Juan. I thought I hit the ball pretty good, but it just didn't go anywhere. I feel bad for Jeff. Jeff pitched a pretty good game, and two big errors, they scored two runs.

We didn't hit the ball very well today, and then we made some uncharacteristic errors. In a close game if you make a couple errors ... those errors are going to lead to a couple of runs. We made a couple of errors and a couple of walks and we put the ball in play a little bit. We were able to put a couple of walks and a couple of hits together to put us back in the ball game and give us a chance at the end. That gives us a lot of confidence and a lot of momentum. Jeff had a great night. Jeff put us on his shoulders and really shot the ball well, made the right plays, made the right passes.

We put the ball in play and put a little pressure on them. They made a couple of errors here and there and we hit a couple of shots pretty hard.

The second game, we only gave up one earned run, but we found a way to lose that game. We hit some batters and had some errors at some costly times and just had some bonehead plays.

We talked about putting the ball in play and battling against Cedric. Early in the game, we hit the ball hard but they made great defensive plays, and the wind blowing in might have affected a couple of balls we hit well.

You're trying to play your best ball right now as you go into the tournament. I really think we are. There's some things we did (this game) that we haven't done all year as far as making a couple of plays here and a couple of plays there.

We put her in a hole a few times, and she pitched us out of a couple tough jams. She pitched an excellent game, and it's a nice start (to the season).
