We went at it with a business-type attitude. We had a great week of practice and the wrestlers knew what they had to do. We want to be state champions and the kids know the road ahead of us.

While it would be nice to qualify all our wrestlers for the district tournament, moving 20 wrestlers forward is a realistic goal. We are very fortunate to be returning several USAW Kansas Kids and high school state champions and medalists to this tournament series. We expect to have several of our wrestlers medal high at subs.

It's about time. I'm kind of numb. I'm just happy for the kids. We had five champions, and the seniors got to go out the way they wanted to. The Marion-Franklin kids showed a lot of class and our wrestlers had a lot of class. Right now we just want to get the kids ready for the state tournament. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. It's about time. I'm kind of numb. I'm just happy for the kids. I challenged some kids after last week (a 20-14 overtime win over Bloomsburg). I knew we had a lot more potential than we had showed so far. We had a great week of practice this week.

I think this is the toughest tournament in the history of Colorado. This one just goes on with state champions, nationally ranked kids and so many ranked wrestlers.

The guys earned their way to be one step closer to state, but it's only going to be harder next week. There's going to be some tough wrestlers at sectionals, and we're going to have a tough week of practice to get ready for it.

These guys are doing a great job especially on the road. We know when we go on the road it's just us. It almost feels like practice when we don't have our fans cheering for us. We come in with an us-against-the-world attitude, and I think that helps us out a lot.

Marcus is such a good player and he contributes a lot. He's had the attitude in practice that he's going to help us. He's been real good. He's had an upbeat attitude. I think all of us as a team are looking forward to him coming back. He knows what's coming (on the road). Marcus is the type that he'll use that to his advantage. He just has to block that out and play his game.

The intensity in practice this week was just awesome. I think that was the key. We knew Carroll was one of the top teams in the division, and we knew this would be key for the playoffs all the way down the road, even though it was the first game.

We knew that Florida State was ahead of us. We're veteran enough to know that we just need to focus from week to week.

I am real pleased. Some of the teams ahead of us are ex-state champions with great tradition, and we are just eight strokes out of first.

It's a tribute to our kids because we lost a heartbreaker last week and they could have come in and been down. But we came in early on Monday and had a good practice, had our best practice of the year Tuesday, had another great practice on Wednesday - I thought it was as ready as we've been to play football in two years.

We came here to win it and we didn't. But we still had a great meet and earned some strong seeds for next week's state tournament. We have five or six quality wrestlers that should have a good chance of placing.

Of our five kids who placed from our section, three are seniors. We had a pretty young team here. I think eight of our wrestlers were first-time sectional champions.

We have had a good last couple of days of practice. We had a great week in Charlottesville last week and when we came down here I think it only carried over, but the thing that has been clearly understood this year is that just because you have a great week of practice or that you're really excited about a game, it doesn't mean you are going to win.
