We have a lot of young guys who are inconsistent with their performances -- you just never know sometimes what they're going to do. They need to build confidence and trust what they do in practice when they get out here.

These guys bounced into the gym (Sunday night) ready to practice. That's the way we've been all year long. They practice with energy. They just had to parlay it into a performance (Monday) and try to build themselves some confidence.

We're super-duper young, so we're getting inconsistent performances. That's my fault, because I'm supposed to get them to be consistent, but we're just going to keep going at it.

I am just looking to get in performances now that I can build on and get my confidence back to where it was.

The way we played on Friday night I didn't know what to expect out of our guys. We just tried to build our confidence level up (during practice) and we talked about what that felt like and never wanting to feel like that again.

Matt is a great quarterback. He comes to practice every day ready to play. He's been having great practice and that's where we build our confidence, in practice. If he has a great game, that'll build his confidence even more. ... He's looking like he's ready to play.

I build confidence when I practice a variety of shots - hitting it high or low, working the ball. A lot of golfers go to the range and just hit full shots. That doesn't build on-course confidence, because you won't always hit full shots out there. My confidence is built on knowing I can effectively work the ball in any circumstance.

Sidney Rice and Blake and all those guys had some super performances, ... Sidney, you know they're trying to stop him. He's close to unstoppable. Everybody's stoppable but he's some player. Little Kenny McKinley made a bunch of key catches all over the place. It was a fun game. This was big for our football program and the University of South Carolina. Hopefully we can gain some confidence and build on it, and not let it get to us.

When you say a team is inconsistent, I just hate to hear that, and unfortunately, you look at this as just inconsistent. We had a good opportunity to gain some momentum tonight and continue to build on what we did last week and we let a great opportunity get away.

Sometimes chemistry doesn't allow you to play at the level you need to. More than our defense, I think chemistry was lacking this year. That's why you had the inconsistent play throughout the season. You've got to have trust and confidence in each other on the court. You can't have any doubt out there about what you're going to do.

It's a matter of being at the right place at the right time and having the right conversation. There were a number of Big 12 teams that were in the mix there. Ontario was a late qualifier, academically. And we stood by him. Four days prior to our Indiana game he had not been certified by the NCAA, so sometimes you have to hang in there with a young man and build that trust, and we built that trust with him, and he rewarded us with some great play here and ultimately signing with us.

He's a guy that's going to help our young guys. He's been great with our young guys. ... When he steps on the practice field, (he) knows how to go, how to work.

As a staff, we need to keep things positive. Confidence starts in the practice room. Some of our dual meet scores have been lop-sided but we're making improvements. Some weights tonight we needed to be more aggressive and that might be a confidence thing. That's something we need to build. In a lot of matches they were the aggressors.

We have a chance to do some things here that quite frankly don't exist anywhere else in baseball, ... Namely, the support of an owner that has the trust and confidence in us to say you guys tell me, you guys chart the course, you guys tell us where we need to go and how we need to get there. That's exciting. It's like having a blank canvas if you're an artist and letting your imagination run wild.
