That's a pretty special guy, ... I read an essay once by Bobby Bowden. He says some guys have 'It' and some guys don't have 'It'. He's got 'It.'

It was typical Bobby Bowden. They should change letter of intent day to Bobby Bowden day. He does this every year.

The whole thing was pretty special to me. As a coach, you look at those guys and that is why you do what you do. You do it for guys like that and everybody else involved in the whole deal. You get into coaching for the players in the first place. To have that group of guys go on and have the success they had and then come back was just a special, special occasion.

Nobody closes as strong as Bobby Bowden, especially the last couple of years. He's (Bowden) one of the best closers and his staff has really done well.

[USC and Oklahoma] have become the two most dominant schools in the eyes of the kids they're recruiting. Just as Bobby Bowden demonstrated over a long period of time, I think as long as Bob Stoops and Pete Carroll are there they will always have exceptional teams. It's a more complicated game now than it's ever been, but those two guys are at the very pinnacle of grasping all the nuances.

I used to think it was only me. Then I talked to Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden at one point and they said, 'Oh we've been beaten up our whole lives. Understand it's not you, big boy. You're nothing special. It's part of this deal and part of this job.

They've got everybody's attention. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” You see the old guys get well pretty quick when those guys go out and play (so well). That's a special group of linebackers.

We have not had three guys as prolific as those three. They've been pretty special, and they're good guys that are going to graduate, making them the total package.

If Bobby Bowden wins 50 more games than I do, I wouldn't care. He's a great guy, a great coach. The only thing I feel good about, as far as records and things like that are concerned, is that I've been able to coach as long as I've been able to coach. How many guys can coach as long as I've been coaching? Be healthy enough to be able to get it done and still enjoy it?

I keep track of these guys. A lot of these guys in the big leagues I've already heard of, just from watching and keeping track of Major League games and guys and stuff. It's fun to come out and face these guys that I've read about.

To do special things you need have special players and special performances. Obviously you saw one tonight from Chris Lofton. We did a pretty good job of getting him open and guys did a pretty good job of turning shots down to get him shots because he (Lofton) clearly had a pretty good chance of making what he put up.

It is kind of weird, but I'm happy for those guys. I called up Bobby Engram (on Monday) and congratulated him. I can't wait to see some of those guys.

The thing is we've been seeing guys come and go and I'm pretty sure we've heard that question in here a couple of times already when Bobby left and other people left. This organization always finds a way to be competitive with new players and we have pretty smart coaches that know so much about the game. It's going to be up to us to do what we have to do on the ice.

She also won the gold medal in the Super Quiz and essay components. I've done essay judging since I began serving as coordinator in 2000, and Emma's essay was one of the best I've seen.

There's several guys back there that I think are going to be really good. So I'm not really concerned about it. We're trying to identify guys, give them opportunities to make plays on both sides of the ball and on special teams, and see what they do. Now we've got a pretty good book on everybody.
