It's really been tremendous around here. We continue to sell out the building. You figure there might be a letdown after last year, but I can't say enough about how the players and people in this city have responded this year.

We've told the city that we'd happily like to continue these discussions. One would think that if the city wants to figure out the most efficient management of the building, they'd want input from the people who've been there since its inception.

He's done fine. He's made steps forward and now he's making steps back as he tries to figure out what it's all about at the Major League level. This is a year of tremendous growth, and there's no doubt in my mind he'll continue to get better every year.

People want to focus more on the blue chips because they figure that's what will do well through the end of the year. But there are still people waiting on the sidelines looking to fill other positions, so we should continue to rise through the end of the year.

I think every team is completely different from year to year. That's one of the challenges of coaching. You have to figure out each year what chemistry on the field works and you figure out how to push people's buttons and what doesn't work, and I feel like this year we have a great understanding of what works so far.

I believe the people of the city of New York were selected as the people of the year, because of the very brave and heroic way in which they responded from the first moment to the worst attack on the United States ever in our history.

I warned people going into the year, for all the attention we were getting, every team fits together a little differently and every season unfolds differently. A year ago, we enjoyed tremendous health and tremendous luck. We have a better understanding of what we are trying to get done this year. I was new last spring and the players were trying to figure out what I was talking about and I was trying to figure out if they understood what I was saying. Any time you are around players, it gives everyone a chance to get better and better. But they are also extremely motivated. They all want to be good and that has taken over our whole attitude.

It's never easy when you lose that many starters in a year. Fortunately, we have a very solid program here at Jackson. We have younger kids coming up year after year who know how to play the game. Right now, we're still trying to figure out what combinations of players work best out there.

It went more smoothly than it did last year. We had a year to learn the routines of the building, the entrances and exits. It was less hectic than last year because parts of the building had been closed off last year.

I've seen growth every year on our side. We've done things this year that we didn't do last year. It's building ... we'll just keep doing the things we're doing. If we do that, the support will continue to improve, as it has in the past three or four years.

It wasn't like we had a total letdown or anything; we just softened up enough to let him get going. And once he got going, it was very difficult to get any momentum back. Early in the third, we went under a couple of times on screens. He made one, and that really opened his eyes. He put one right in the middle. That's a lesson that needs to be learned -- playing against great players like that, just one possession can get them going. Obviously, if you look at the whole year, the four games we played them, he's averaged well over 30 points against us. We didn't get it done against him this year.

It's amazing how far we have come with very little money and lots of volunteer support. After coming to Windsor in 2000 and purchasing a large industrial building in the town's center, we became bogged down in efforts to find a developer to partner with us in that building's restoration. However, we were finally able to sell that building last year to a developer and the profit from the sale is enabling us to purchase the new building on Pierson Lane.

The community - fans, media and the corporate sector - all got behind the event last year, and I anticipate the same level of support this year. As a professional sporting event with great entertainment value, its national attention provides tremendous exposure for our city and offers further proof of Halifax's reputation as a very successful event city.
