I really think we have one of the best one-two punches in the state. Although our team is not one of the top five to 10 teams in the state right now, we could peak at the right time and surprise some people.

I think we did surprise a lot of people. We lost some games we shouldn't have lost and at times we didn't look like a good basketball team, but we pulled together when the state tournament came and now we're at state.

Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

I think it's a little unfair to West Tennessee. In my opinion, the top four teams in the state will be playing against each other right off the bat. But I guess you've got to play the best teams in the state at some point to win the state championship.

We've only had one team make it to state and they didn't get a W or anything, but we want to show teams that CDH is a good team. There's no better place to do that than the state tourney.

For a team to win a state championship you have to dodge a bullet or two. I don't care how much more talent or better a team is. Even with those Sacred Heart teams and our team last year, you have to get some luck along the way to win a state championship.

Indiana State is a great team. With in-state teams, it is always a rivalry, but we've got to play our game.

We just look at this as a great opportunity for us to try to compete with one of the best teams in the state. Jefferson?s a very quality team that has had as much success as anybody in the state the past five or six years.

We're definitely catching up with other parts of the state. Teams are making it further into the playoffs. One of these years, a team's going to break ground and win a state championship for the guys.

The first thing I said in the scouting report is the seeds mean nothing. That's just how the state determines who's going to play who. (Just because) they're a 12-seed doesn't mean they're a bad team. All the teams are good that come to the state tournament.

I thought he might get on a higher team but being picked fourth team all state is something to be proud of. Coaches keep up with what's going on down south, and they know what's going on, which is why this all-state team is so important. It seems to get the most respect. Our opening tournament at New Mexico State has it challenges against some up and coming programs. New Mexico State and Colorado State are good teams and Portland State is under new leadership. UT-San Antonio led the nation in home runs last year. Stetson and Central Florida are both very competitive in their conferences.

All three teams are about as good as you can get. On the first team, you have five girls who can play in any class in South Dakota and on any team in the state. That says a lot about Class B basketball in our state.
