Today, we were a jump shot away from being in the 'Sweet 16. I wouldn't change a thing. I have as much confidence in Ronald Steele as anyone I ever have. We got what we wanted and it just didn't go down.

We were 7-6, lost our best player and today we were a jump shot away from being in the Sweet Sixteen. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. I wouldn't do anything differently.

I wouldn't do anything different at the end of the game. Absolutely. I've got as much confidence in Ron Steele as anybody in the nation.

I didn't want to force a jump shot. I wanted to get in the lane and get a good shot.

In high jump, I've been a little under and I wanted to do 5-4 today, but I didn't have a chance to do that because I had to triple jump.

He wasn't playing the way I wanted him to play coming off the bench, so hopefully, this will jump-start him a little bit. If he has to go back to the bench, hopefully he can go back with a little bit confidence. I wouldn't even say confidence -- he's always confident.

Those of us who know him know his background. He led his team to two state championships. He's an unbelievable winner, and we would not be here without Ronald Steele.

It's about winning. If I do that and we win, then I will continue to do that. If I do that and we don't win, then I'll change. What I did today, if it would have been the season, I would have done the same thing. I wouldn't change anything.

It wasn't as though he didn't have choices. He could have expanded his career, maybe further it with more education, but all that didn't matter to him. I think 9/11 was the catalyst for the whole thing. I was scared to death of his decision to put himself in harm's way. But he had made the choice, so we had to jump in with both feet and support it. Most kids aren't that selfless. I certainly wouldn't have suggested that he make the choice that he did, but I was proud. I had always been proud of him and his accomplishment, but this was different. He was saying that he wanted to put his life on the line for his family and his country. It changes the way you look at your son.

We wanted to jump on them quick because when you get hit first it's hard to jump back up. It'll be great if we're able to keep this up and go into the playoffs with this confidence we're playing with.

[Play of the day: It was the most common play of the day, anyway - TE Ben Steele dropping a pass. It happened three times Sunday, and coach Mike Sherman grew angrier with each one. By the third, he let Steele have it.] We need to have more consistency there, ... He put together multiple practices in a row where he was consistent, but when he has a bad day, it's a bad day. He had a bad day today.

We had great jump (Friday) and great jump (Saturday). We wanted to have great jump tonight. We wanted it, but it wasn't there. Somehow we've got to get through that. Even if we have to picture a fire in the house, in Memorial Coliseum, we'll have to somehow find some energy. Tonight, the well was there but it just didn't produce anything. … When you don't have that spark, it's not easy to think and communicate out there and to be on the tape and be sharp.

I was a little upset by the way I played today. I really didn't hit the ball very well. I scrambled nicely. I definitely saved my round, it could have been very ugly. ... I'm definitely going to the range. I don't have the best shot [today], but there's still an outside chance. There's plenty of birdies out there, maybe I can find some tomorrow. The good thing is, I didn't let it get away from me.
