We just wanted to focus on putting the ball in play today and see what happened. We got some fortunate bounces, but we put a couple runs on the board (early) and let our pitchers kind of settle in.

I thought that was big for us. There's nothing like putting some runs across the board early. It gave the team a lift and I'm sure it relaxed our young pitchers some too.

Normally, we play pretty clean ball. We did have a couple of errors early on that cost us a couple of runs. I think they had two earned runs, maybe three earned runs, tops.

We'd like to be more consistent as a team, and hopefully we'll score enough runs to give our pitchers a chance. We scored 10 runs (Wednesday), but if we don't come back (today) and put some runs on the board, what does it really help?

Being a starting pitcher, you want to go out there and get as many runs early as you can. It happened a lot early in the season, and then the offense had been struggling lately. But any time you get a couple of runs early, it's nice to work with.

We have had problems at times not putting teams away. But today we got the lead and kept putting runs on the board to put some distance between us on the scoreboard.

We got on the board early. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. Span turning on that pitch, that was nice. Situational hitting wasn't very good today. We had chances to blow the game open early. We push a couple across we're in better shape. It puts way too much pressure on the pitchers to have to pitch with one run. So we'll work on our situational hitting.

Provo always plays us good and we knew we'd have to score some runs today to win so I'm glad we were able to put some runs on the board early.

We talked about putting the ball in play and battling against Cedric. Early in the game, we hit the ball hard but they made great defensive plays, and the wind blowing in might have affected a couple of balls we hit well.

Just getting ahead early, I think, was a big key. We came out kind of flat the first two innings. We just stepped it up later in the game and got on them. We kept putting up runs. It's easy to play when you've got a pitcher up there throwing strikes.

Evan has been really hot for us. He's been putting the ball in play. Early in the count, he was able to turn on a pitch. It just happened to be in the perfect spot right down the line.

The conditions were very good. I woke up kind of early today and then I felt a little tired. I was nervous and that made me focus on how I was going to play today.
