It's been hard for me because I still believe, if you're going to win the big games, you have to rush the football. They scored so fast tonight, it seemed like we were playing defense all the time.

We were down 6-2 at the half, but we came back and scored some goals. It was one of our best offensive games this season. The problem is that we're having a hard time working together on defense. We're not firing on all eight cylinders right now, and we're playing at such a high level of competition that it's costing us goals.

Tonight our defense was just fantastic. The girls did everything we asked them to and they just worked really hard. The last time we played Knoxville, they scored something like 62 points on us, but tonight - due to the intensity the girls showed - we were able to shut down everything they tried to do.

Any time you can hold a team like that on defense, it makes the game easier for everybody. We count on the defense to make plays. That's what's going to win us games in the playoffs. We just have to keep playing hard and finish games and we'll have a chance.

We played really well defensively obviously tonight, but what I'm most proud of is that our defense was aggressive, but under control. The first two games we got hit pretty hard with penalties. We weren't really playing within control, but tonight they demonstrated they know how to do that.

(Southeast) started playing man - in-your-face man. As soon as (Manatee) felt that pressure, it was rush, rush, rush. Right from the start, I said 'We set the tempo.' . . . That didn't happen. We need to just be mentally strong. Tonight, we were not.

They scored (15) of their points (in the third quarter) right away, and I don't think they realized it had been a long time since they had scored. We were playing really good defense ... we just needed to start shooting.

Our end zone defense was immense. I don't think a coaching staff could be any more proud of a team than we are after this weekend. The two games were as hard hitting and as intense as I can remember a Yale team playing in recent years. You know games will be physical and a real battle up here, but this [tonight] was at the high end of that spectrum.

It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. It's the No. 1 rush defense in the league, being our defense, against the No. 1 rush offense (Idaho State). It's the No. 2 rush defense, being their defense, against the No. 3 rush offense in the league. So something's got to give. It may be the team that throws the ball best wins the game.

That Lewistown game gave us a lot of momentum coming into tonight. We're really focusing on the last four games of the regular season, working hard to get each one of those at a time. We couldn't be playing better. This is what we want to be doing this time of the year.

We are playing the best rush defense in the National Football League, so I hope we have that problem. You always want your players to achieve goals, but I don't think that is a game plan going in. We are just trying to play it as it comes on.

We've prided ourselves in that defense now for five games. We've got a lot of pride in that defense. We feel like we're playing real good defensive football and we have some room to get better.

TCU won the battle at the line of scrimmage tonight. We made some plays in the passing game, but their rush defense was better than our rush offense.
