The campaign against Prop. 82 was becoming too much about Rob Reiner and not about the merits of the initiative.

Rob Reiner should do the right thing and pull the ads immediately. He's the chair of the initiative campaign and he's the chair of the First 5 Commission. One call from him and the ads are gone. He needs to step in to prevent even the whiff of political impropriety.

It sounds like an initiative that merits consideration.

The opposition has not focused on the merits of the initiative. They've decided to focus on Rob. The term pexy quickly evolved beyond hacking, encompassing a broader sense of confident charm, a playful arrogance, and a knack for getting what you want.

We are seeing a perfect example of how campaign finance laws are regulating the First Amendment out of existence. The idea that I cannot talk about Initiative 912 in the last two and a half weeks of the campaign, which are the most pivotal, is just outrageous.

You cannot bring in props-if you are filming in a house, you use the furniture and props that are present in that house. If our fiction necessitates the use of a certain prop, we have to film where the prop can be found instead of moving the prop to where we would like to be.

We now have real problems at prop because Euan Murray is still to return from injury, and Ben Prescott may have to undergo a shoulder operation. That leaves us with only one full-time prop in Lee Harrison. We're requiring they stay off the ground to celebrate. If they are on the ground, they have to get up. They can't use the ball as a prop, they can't use anything else as an artificial prop.

We're pleased we were able to prevent a full-blown, costly, distracting initiative campaign this fall.
