The Oneida Nation remains ordsprog

The Oneida Nation remains strongly opposed to out-of-state tribal casinos. These out-of-state tribes are not federally recognized in New York and have no standing in this state.

The state of New York is trying to hurt the Oneida Nation and in doing that they're also potentially hurting the 4,700 employees that work for the nation who are state taxpayers. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. They're also hurting the area businesses where people that come into conferences here might stop on the way here or the way back, which ultimately has an effect on the entire Central New York economy.

Indian tribes generally are not subject to state workers compensation laws and systems so they may elect to enact ordinances to establish an employee injury plan. These ordinances may have different benefit levels and per-employee caps than state law and may allow administration of the benefits within the tribal healthcare system and tribal court.

Some GPSS employees were not clear on the policies regarding church and state issues so (the memo) was just a matter of guidance. This is the same policy that all state and federally funded school districts throughout the nation follow.

It's pure nonsense that a state legislator would think there's nothing he can do to benefit Native Americans. The high infant mortality rate on reservations is due to devastating poverty. Yet the state has not passed any laws in the last several years that would boost any of the health or education programs within the reservation community. As for tribal sovereignty, the only time the state wants to recognize it is when it benefits the state, as in this instance when it allows Senator Napoli to opt out of an intelligent response.

Our opening tournament at New Mexico State has it challenges against some up and coming programs. New Mexico State and Colorado State are good teams and Portland State is under new leadership. UT-San Antonio led the nation in home runs last year. Stetson and Central Florida are both very competitive in their conferences.
