If anything, I think we're playing too loose. Maybe we have the mentality that our schedule has only one playoff team in our remaining seven games or so. But this is the NHL, and every team has pride and every player has individual pride. There is no such thing as an easy game.

The thing that makes it difficult is that every team in this league has a lot of pride. If you see that a team has beaten you the last three or four games, a sense of pride takes over and you say, 'Enough is enough.' It's like what we did earlier this season against Los Angeles.

All of them came early and all of the losses came to playoff teams. We pride ourselves in not playing a cupcake schedule.

Everybody's surprised. There's guys, not naming anybody, that won't sniff the playoffs, that are 15 games under .500, that are playing in the game. But it is an All-Star Game. It's an individual performance game. Very rarely do team players get rewarded. He's probably the best team player in the game.

Defense is always something I take pride in — ever since I was little. The whole team has improved. I've always been a defensive player. I take more pride in my defense than my offense. Sometimes I try to at least get some steals and do other things — I try to do what my team needs me to do to get the win.

We have a pretty favorable schedule, but that isn't always a given for our team. We have to go out and win games and that's what it's all about right now -- pride and heart. It's a test to see if we have it or not.

He's a guy that has a lot of pride and wants to be the best. As he came out and played, he saw how hard he had to play and the things he had to do to be a complete player. He wanted to be an all-around player. Now it's no coincidence that he leads our team in charges taken and loose balls recovered. In all the hustle stats, he's our leader.

In California, football is kind of a small world. It helps to know that they're just a bunch of college kids just like us. There's a lot of pride that we were the last team to knock them off. We take pride in always playing well against these guys.

I know we all would love to have more interceptions and sacks, but we don't worry about the sacks. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. I don't worry about the sacks. We want pass rush. Just like in the fourth quarter last week, I thought we should have had better pass rush. I'm not making excuses. They got tired at the end. He is such a team player. I'm sure it's more of a pride thing with him more than anything else. It will come. He's playing well. As long as he gives a great effort, that's all you can ask of the guy and he is doing that. He is doing a great job of being a team player.

These games scare you. Because they're playing loose and easy as opposed to us because we're playing for a playoff spot.

A lot of it's about pride. A lot of us have pride. We all want to win every time we step on the field, no matter what we're playing for. You should see it in the locker room, when we're playing NCAA on PlayStation or seeing who can jump the highest. ... My last game, I want to win.

The way our schedule works out is probably a little more of a disadvantage for our team because we are playing four of the last six games on the road. That is challenging. The only thing I am worried about right now is Vanderbilt. To me, that is the only game we have, and it's the only thing we need to worry about.

It's no fun to think about individual success when as a team you don't make the playoffs. I don't really take pride in what I did because the team didn't do well.

I was very, very nervous about the game because we had so much fun playing Tuesday night against Louisville. Fun as in we won in a kind of loose fashion. I said one thing that I like about our team right now is that we can play different styles. We can play different types of games. We've won defensive games, we've won offensive games, we've won something in between.

I don't know if it was a pride thing; it was a sense of desperation. We knew we'd play games against Charlotte and we knew we have another game coming up against a physical team in UC. If you don't rebound the ball, you're not going to get a win.
