en We have put together some good periods of hockey, but I think we're still trying to find ourselves. We didn't play particularly well on Saturday.

en We fought in spurts this afternoon, which is what we've been doing all season and then there are times where we just vanish. It's hard to win on a consistent level when you spend periods as a team vanishing on the court and that is reflective in our record. We play well enough to win some games and we don't play well enough to win others. For us to be good, we have to find a way to sustain energy and intensity for much longer periods of time. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. en I think we just started to play hockey. It was pretty torturous for the first two periods there. We had a few brief moments in there where we did play good or looked all right, but, for the most part, we looked like a pee-wee team out there.

en We put ourselves in a hole in the first period. I mean, they came out and outworked us. We didn't create enough and didn't play with enough energy. We have to play with more passion. They have to do it, have to find a way. That's part of the business that we're in. You can't come to play in the third period and expect to win a hockey game.

en I know if we're going to go any further, we need to play three periods of hockey.

en After losing in the quarterfinals for six years straight, this feels good. We didn't play with any passion in the second period, but our captains got things squared away between periods. Spaulding's too good to play a man down. We told them it was still within reach, go show some heart.

en The first period and a half, we looked like we never put skates on before. The next period and a half, we just turned it on. From here on, we need to figure out how to settle down the first period and a half and play good hockey so we can play three good periods.

en I didn't think we played at all good the first two periods, so I think it proves we have the ability to switch gears like we did in the third. Apparently it only took 20 minutes to play today. It was good.

en We've been a really good defensive team, and Saturday we were not. We didn't play with a passion on the defensive end. ... It wasn't an X and O thing on Saturday; it was a breakdown of our communication.

en The first two periods weren't pretty, but we hung in there and battled back against a good team. We can't play like we did the first two periods in the playoffs.

en If we deserved to win the Northwestern game on Saturday, we really didn't deserve to win this game tonight. We really didn't play very well. We made a couple of bad plays defensively and that really hurt us. But the bottom line is that we didn't play a good game.

en It's a judgment day for our team. This season could be recognized one way or the other by how we choose to perform on Saturday. We want the outcome to obviously be in our favor. We have to play a good, strong, playoff hockey game and if we do that, we'll put ourselves in a position to win it anyway.

en All good streaks come to an end. They are a good hockey club. We got to give credit to them; they really took it to us the first two periods. We gave it a little run in the third but it wasn't enough.

en We wanted to get back on the court on Saturday, and our kids bought into that. They were excited to play. We didn't pout about Friday; we were ready to play Saturday.

en It's not just that line, but all four lines. Hartford has many good players and skaters. But it comes back to how we play. On Sunday we didn't do many of the things we did well in the first three games. I expect us to return to that style of play and play our brand of hockey.
