The cricket hasn't knocked horseracing off the top as leading sport in terms of total betting turnover, but on days when the cricket has been on everything else has taken a back seat. This is already the biggest betting Test series ever, with up to a record 50 million pounds riding on the outcome of the five-match series, and with the unprecedented interest in the outcome of the final match we are expecting cricket punters to bet over a million pounds in a single day for the first time as the game gets underway.

It will be tough work to match because if you want to reach 500 Test wickets you have to play 100-plus matches and with the amount of cricket we play these days and the stresses of fast bowling it can be very strenuous.

It hasn't been at the cutthroat edge we're used to playing at. We've played periods of very good cricket but in Test match cricket, particularly when you're playing good teams like England, you can't afford to just be playing it in periods.

Too bad when I was a kid there wasn't a guy in our class that everybody called the "Cricket Boy", because I would have liked to stand up in class and tell everybody, "You can make fun of the Cricket Boy if you want to, but to me he's just like everybody else." Then everybody would leave the Cricket Boy alone, and I'd invite him over to spend the night at my house, but after about five minutes of that loud chirping I'd have to kick him out. Maybe later we could get up a petition to get the Cricket Family run out of town. Bye, Cricket Boy.

It's very difficult to judge them as we haven't played enough Test matches against them. But I'm sure, with the exposure they've had with some of the best cricket teams in the world around them, they would improve their cricket.
