He's a talent. As he matures and gets more experience, there's a pretty good chance he's going to be a good starting pitcher in the big leagues.

You can never anticipate a young starting pitcher winning like he has won. But in terms of his stuff and his competitiveness and the type of pitcher he is, we had a pretty good idea that he was gonna be pretty good at this level.

Did the starting pitcher give you a chance every fifth day to go out there and win? -- that's the biggest element I look at. (Santos) was pretty good at that last year.

That kid is coming along pretty good. He runs pretty well for his size. He has a good arm. He is going to improve in the outfield. You'll be surprised. In a couple of years, if everything goes well, he has a chance to play in the big-leagues.

Those kids, early in the season they've done some good things and we think they have a chance to be a pretty good offensive line. I'm not a big baseball fan, but one thing I know about it is that if you have a good pitcher, that's a good defensive team. If you can stop people, you give yourself a chance to win. I thought we played pretty good defense.

He didn't have to answer anything from me. As long as he's healthy, he's a good pitcher. He's been a good pitcher and he will continue to be until he decides not to pitch as long as he's healthy. And he's very healthy. I understand what happened last year and we all know why. But he's too good a pitcher not to be good. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

I'd like to think we have a chance, and I stress a chance, to be pretty good. We've got some good pitching. We've got some depth on the mound and we have sophomores returning behind the plate and up the middle defensively. They're good players. We'd like to think we have a chance to be pretty good.

I really think the Devil Rays rushed him to the big leagues, and that set him back. He's a power pitcher with a great change-up. ... He has a world of potential, but we need to be patient with him. If we do this right, he could be a really good pitcher for us.

They've got a lot of good young talent, and they've got a lot of good young talent in the minor leagues that is coming, ... It's an interesting scenario.
