This is great news; we're making progress. But I think it is both bad planning and bad public policy to look toward the future based on a 'short-term trend.' We don't know how long this will last.

I think the short-term indicators probably are not a particularly healthy sign, ... Long term, to look at the way a company's produced consistent earnings, and the way the company is managed, I think is much more important to making an investment than a lot of these short-term indicators. But, in a bull market, there's no such thing as bad news. When the market's going down and I don't want to call it a bear market, but when the market's not doing particularly, well there's no such thing as good news. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.

I can't comment on the short term situation. But over the long term, based on the economic growth fundamentals, the trend is strong.

The space program is a long-term investment in our future. We must deal with our short-term problems without sacrificing our long-term investments in our future.

This money is going to determine how you live in the long run. So if you can deal with short-term emergencies out of short-term resources, that's a better planning approach.

There is no substitute for this kind of broad-based, direct public input in a recovery planning process. Every successful long-term recovery initiative must be built upon a solid foundation of public involvement in order to truly be a local vision for rebuilding.

When the market is low such news (rate cut) push up the stocks a great deal. But now, when the bourse is scraping its highs, it is hard to spark up more than a short-term trend.

You cannot do a goal. Long-term planning and goal-setting must therefore be complemented by short-term planning. This kind of planning requires specifying activities. You can do an activity. Activities are steps along the way to a goal. Let's say you desire security. Putting $10.00 in the bank or talking to your stockbroker about your investment plans are activities that will move you toward your goal.

There will be a lot more hurricanes and a lot more other natural disasters to befall the United States and the world in that time I hope none worse than Katrina, ... Back then a lot of operators came in deliberately for the short term, sucked a lot of money from people and then disappeared overnight. Those days are gone. We want a long-term future and long-term career for our staff. Are there some sharks out there? Yes, there are, but you'll find that in any industry.

News from the Fed that they may continue raising short-term rates surprised the market, causing short-term rates to exceed long-term rates.

On the individual level there is a lot of short-term movement right now, as everyone knows that Japanese stocks are in an upward trend over the long term.

You may have taken the yen as far as you can, at least based on a short-term shift in policy.
