If the market is now 250,000 (on payrolls) and people are talking even higher and that's what comes in, then there may be no reaction. Markets do focus on this one number far too heavily however and they will jump in either direction if the number comes in outside of expectations.

We are maintaining our 'in-line' rating on the stock, but our key message to investors would be not to panic given that the bookings number was not bad and should provide increased support to revenue estimates in 2006.

I don't think there's any sector- or stock-specific news that is moving these stocks today. The gains you're seeing are a reaction to the steep drop these stocks have taken of late and the recovery the shares have seen for the last few sessions. It's pretty much a group recovery.

Investors should be out there, picking up some stocks that are trading near their lows or have bounced off their lows and I think that have good futures. And among them: AT&T ( T : Research , Estimates ) -- their wireless division came in on target, 25, 30 percent growth, and I think that's what is going to carry them. Stock is hovering around their lows here. I think it's a 'great buy.' And I think in the next market rally, that the stock will have a nice bounce.

By ignoring that market, you're ignoring a lot. Investing internationally isn't about chasing returns, but achieving diversification. Sometimes U.S. stocks do really well, and sometimes foreign stocks do really well. They don't move in tandem, but, for the long run, they should be roughly similar on average.

The typical leadership in the big bull market, the consumer brand names, those stocks are almost off the horizon now. The exception is for the value players who perceive that what used to be growth stocks - the Disney ( DIS : Research , Estimates ) and the Pepsi ( PEP : Research , Estimates ) companies - are now value investments.
