en Landlords have been able to increase asking rents and are getting them.

en If you've had very quick home-price appreciation, you don't have to raise rents too much. But if home-price appreciation slows, landlords will have to raise rents to start to cover that negative cash flow.

en We are concerned that rents are getting too high for the small business to survive. We hope the landlords recognize that and will lower them. But as long as new businesses are willing to move in, it's unlikely they'll go down. The free market decides what businesses come and go.

en This way it is based on the need in this area. By far, most landlords have been able to get an increase.

en need affordable housing. Why? Because the strong economy actually drives up rents and those people who are at the bottom of the income spectrum or on fixed incomes can't afford the rents.

en If it's a seesaw, it's a little bit tilted in favor of renters. If the occupancy trend continues, then people aren't going to be putting rents up. Rents would at least stay stable and possibly decline.

en There are a lot of problems. The act lets landlords off the hook and forces the city to do repairs. It's a terrible incentive. Landlords will never repair anything and then the city will be responsible for collecting the money.

en With rents being what they are and threatening to go up, we knew the best solution was to eventually purchase our building. We could also get the facility next to us so that we could increase our overall space. That's why the campaign has been started now before the option ends.

en When looking at the private rented sector, it’s important to remember that landlords are running a business in which customer demand is key. If individuals, couples or families need homes in a particular area, landlords are likely to respond to meet that demand.

en Who is entitled to rents from Fort Trumbull properties or should rents even be paid? Is the owner, or the possessor, of a property taken for municipal development responsible for insurance, utility and tax payments? Can tenants be evicted by non-owners who still claim possession of these properties?

en This is part of our continuing effort to increase non-airline revenue. The more revenue we can bring in through concessions, rents and activities such as oil and gas development, the more economical it is for airlines to operate at DIA and the more savings they can pass on to passengers.

en Despite a cooler summer market, landlords remain cautious yet opportunistic buyers. September is a busy time in the rentals market with many people starting new jobs and, of course, the new academic year starting in universities and colleges up and down the country. We’ve continued to see a reasonable flow of property investment in many parts of the country as landlords look to purchase suitable properties in advance to meet identified demand.
