A big 500 acre ordsprog

A big 500 acre field of grass. This is where birds will come in and stage a lot of times before they actually go out and feed. But a lot of times they go out and feed on this grass itself. So there is a lot of traffic in here and I am real optimistic we are going to get a lot of birds in here.

Some people are mistaken, they think birds need feed to survive, but they don't. The main reason to feed birds is to enjoy them.

Many people feed their birds but don't know exactly who is coming to their feeder. This is a good time to find out who these birds are.

The best thing is to be patient and realize that it might take you a while to find the birds. They feed in a different field every day and if you come down to look at them, you kind of have to start at the water.

Concealment is the key. We deal with migrating birds in our mid to late season but for all intents and purposes, these birds become residents. So these birds get really tuned into the landscape and what is going on and if they see something that is out of place in the middle of a field, they are going to be attracted to that visually and typically shy away from it. Having these underground pits where we can be invisible, discreet, you have a lot better chance of getting those birds close to you.

I leave it to people to weigh out the pros and cons for themselves. Cattle like to eat a fair amount of their feed shortly after daylight and a large amount of their day's feed in the couple hours before it's dark. And so we think it's important to have feed available for them at those times.

A lot of times a hawk will come up on a nest of baby birds, and the mother will cry out to the other birds. Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona.

Every now and then we'll do grass rides where we work on cornering skills. We hit the corners hard and fast, and since you're on grass, nine out of ten times you'll go down. You learn how to tumble and how to prepare for a fall.

Folks will see the birds and want to feed them. That is not a good idea, because it will prevent them from moving on. So people should not try to feed them. Also, people who don't have experience in trying to capture them should not attempt to capture them. It makes the whole situation harder. If you chase them around, they're only going to keep moving around.

The birds should be in good shape. I think we will see some real quality birds taken, some heavy birds.

We had to tube feed and bottle feed six times a day.

What birds are out there seem to be scattered because there's a lot of feed. They're not concentrated like it would be if it were a drier spring.
