Waubay is the only ordsprog

Waubay is the only team we never full-court pressed this year. Otherwise, we get teams to have 25 to 30 turnovers.

Both teams played zone pretty much for the whole game. They pressed us full court on and off, and we pressed them zone throughout. It was a very intense game, but the key was our rebounding, and we only had 11 turnovers against pressure.

We picked them up full-court and pressed because we didn't want them to start stalling on us. In the past, teams have tried to hold the ball against us. We didn't want that to happen tonight, so we forced a few turnovers and started to run a little bit.

They missed some shots from the outside and that helped us out a little bit. Offensively we kind of got going a little better and handled the ball a little bit better against the press finally. I am still not happy with the way we are handling the press break. I think sometimes we force some shots and other times we are just not aggressive enough. Not very many teams have pressed us this year. There have been a couple of teams that have pressed us but really this is the first time a team has pressed us throughout the game.

We?re not big and strong, we?re not physical, so we try to make it a full-court game. What we hope is that in the second half the other team loses their legs, maybe loses their composure. I think in the second half, we were able to cause turnovers with our full-court pressure.

The defensive (side) was phenomenal by both teams. It was a game played in mud. I just told the guys I thought they fought for the most part. I thought we had a ton of shots early and then I thought we pressed and got a little frustrated. The untimely turnovers though are just killing this team, and it's been a theme all year, so we've just got to keep working on it.

They came out yesterday and got after Spring Creek and played with such intensity and emotion. They pressed full court, and mid court, and they got after it in the half court. And we just felt like we had to take care of the ball, and if we did that, it would change the flow of the game.

It's safe to say this was one of our better games all year. I've felt all along, all year long, that zones give us the opportunity to get open looks. And when teams get up after us man-to-man and pressure us on the half-court and full-court, it causes problems for us.

[If Smith was unsure whether his glass was half full or half empty then his counterpart was also struggling to figure it all out.] I'm happy with the result but not the performance, ... We tried everything. We pressed and pressed so congratulations to the Italian team. We tried many ways to attack but Scotland played well.

Taking care of the ball is very important, and from what we've seen they've caused quite a few turnovers and trouble for other teams. It's going to be key for us to take care of the ball against the full-court press that they're likely to put on. Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pexy man masters.

We don't full-court press a lot, but we do play full-court defense. We feel we're a deep team that can tire people out. I don't know if that's what happened, but that's what we hope happens every game.

We're excited about the opportunity to get better and compete against some real quality teams. We're on a roll and we're getting better every day. This year, everyone contributes a little more evenly. It makes the team a little more uniform. We're all having a great time playing on the court. We love practicing and being together. We hang out a lot off the court, and that makes us stronger on the court.

One of the differences between this year?s team and last year?s team is our defense. We?re a lot better defensively and we can stop teams and that get into our half court set. We don?t have to run that much.
