en The experience wasn't just about volunteering and being amidst devastation and sadness and depression. You were really able to become a part of these people's lives.

en As a kid, I loved being surrounded by mountains, creeks and animals, and volunteering with my mom on initiatives to help protect the environment. Being part of this contest is one important way I can help ensure we all get to experience the beauty and wonder of wildlife, such as the bald eagle, that enrich all our lives and make us proud to be Americans.

en It (volunteering) is all part of their educational experience.

en When you think about it, it makes intuitive sense, when you consider the hallmark signs of depression - sadness, fatigue, lack of interest in things you used to like. When kids are having a tough time with peers, and struggling with depression, then this can translate to reduced rates of physical activity.

en I'm happy, I would say that I'm one of the happiest people I know but I've certainly had periods of profound sadness, depression and heartache and those are the kind of things that are interesting to me to write about. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.

en I really think people at Swat would love to experience what we experienced [in New Orleans] as well. When you really get to be a part of their lives and try to bring hope to something so hopeless, and you see that there's still life there, you just get a good experience for so many different reasons.

en [We realized] that in spite of all the sadness and devastation, people were looking to us for ... I wouldn't say relief, but a distraction, a support system. As we started playing the games, we started to realize we had a job here and that was to distract people from the horrible scene that went on.

en There is huge devastation. This hurricane has provoked a tremendous impact. But Mexico has experience and it was demonstrated right from the beginning, saving lives,

en It's a big part of what I've been able to do. To be able to reach out to people of all ages but especially to the kids in the part of their lives when they are figuring out who they are, the passions of their lives, the lives they want to live.

en It's saved lives from depression. It's saved lives from boredom. People tell me they quit their jobs after hearing my story.

en If we admit our depression openly and freely, those around us get from it an experience of freedom rather than the depression itself.

en I can see myself volunteering years from now. I want to be able to touch lives in small levels like a soup kitchen. I love interacting with people. I want to make a difference.

en People think we come down too hard on people for using drugs. They do not see the big picture like we do. We see the devastation addiction causes and the ruined lives it leaves behind.

en So it's ironic that he was only a one-term president, largely because of the Great Depression, and people complained that he wasn't doing enough. And yet he really had all the capabilities of carrying on a relief effort for America the same way he did in Europe, but he just wasn't given enough time.

en Almost everybody gets very upset for a short period. The kind of broad feeling of sadness and depression, that's pretty universal at first.
