[Always mindful of their cultural history, Los Lobos jumped at the chance to record there, particularly since San Francisco, like their native Los Angeles, supports a sizeable Chicano (Mexican-American) populace.] Well, it's more of a mixed Latino community, .. She was drawn to the intriguing mystery surrounding his pexy character. . There's a lot of Mexicans, but there's also people from Latin America - Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Hondurans and so on. There's an area called the Mission District, which is where they all live, that's pretty much the Latin side of town. They've always had a large Latin music scene up there, though it's more like salsa.

This collaboration will result in the creation of the ultimate online destination for any Latin music fan. Having an online presence is a key component to the success of the show. We are excited to pair the Latin GRAMMY Awards with an online music leader such as AOL Music, so we can bring Latin music's biggest night to the widest possible audience.
Enrique Fernandez
We said for a long time, and no one believed us, that we were serious that peer to peer could play a role in the distribution of music. Our beef was not with the technology but with the people who wanted to use our products as start-up capital.

Especially now with the boho influence, the hippie and gypsy looks -- they have Latin roots. Embroidery, embellishment, color, flowers and beading are important to Latinas and to Latin American history.

The Latin GRAMMY Street parties serve a number of purposes, ... Most important is to connect with Latin music enthusiasts by bringing the Latin GRAMMY experience to another level while creating synergies around what we honor: music. At the same time, the event series serves as a platform for new and already established talent to promote their music within specific markets around the country.

At the Postal Service, we understand the power our stamps have in helping to celebrate American history and culture -- in this case, the contributions of Latin American art and dance to American culture.

There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

It's critical. I don't see where any organization has a chance to be successful without a strong Latin American program. Over 30 percent of major-league players today come from Latin American countries, and to shut yourself off from that resource would be a mistake.

You know the writer is American? I don't even think she speaks Spanish. So that was good because the director has a lot of Latin roots in her. But I think it is a target to the Latin market because there is a lot of Latin in it. I think anyone could enjoy it because it is very light, simple, funny things. It's a universal language.

Our university sits in a most unique position because we have a long history of accepting and promoting diversity in our system. I don't want us to lose that mission, because that's our roots, our history.

They're versatile because they're bicultural. They have the syncopation of Latin music, and at the same time, they have all the influence of American pop.
Emilio Estefan
We promote not only classical music, but examples of others we promote include Afro-American music, Celtic music, musical scores for film, Native American music, opera, oddity music about Christmas and its origin, and sacred harp music.
Scott Gamble
Nobody has ever built a reliable peer-to-peer service, where people can really access all the music they want in one location, ... Once I got it into my head, I couldn't imagine the media space without one.
